SG optimum is under 5m .. if a scout gets that close then they deserve the kill and you deserve to die So getting close deserves an definitive kill? No matter the situation? I can spawn at a CRU or uplink, and as long as a scout is there...i should die regardless of my ability to fire back? A scout can jump out of a dropship and land within 5 meters of me, and i should die since he got so close? Sorry, but there are far too many factors taking place during a battle to have such a narrow minded view.
How is it any different to you saying Scouts shouldn't be able to 1v1 a heavy in CQC ?
You seem to think being a heavy means you can't be killed in CQC ..
And all the points you raised .. umm .. yes ..
If you spawn in at an uplink / CRU and a scout is there waiting for you , you still have a few seconds of immunity where you can;t take damage .. if you cant kill a low hp scout before he kills you then you deserve to die .. I very rarely get killed by scouts in fact usually I die when they catch me off guard and sneak up on me from behind .. that type of play should be rewarded, I;ve never been killed by a shotgun scout in CQC and thought .. I should;ve won that ..
If a scout jumps out of a dropship and lands next to you and kills you after going through the landing animation then again .. you deserve to die .. if you haven;t noticed the dropship or the fact someone has jumped out of it and missed them landing near you then .. you deserve to die
I'm not even a scout and shotguns are clearly UP they have a very small range and to compensate for that they should have high alpha damage .. try using a scout suit sometime and see just how difficult it is to get within the shotguns optimum range and then tell me a shotgun shouldn't be a 1 hit KO within 5m.
Heavys should not be immortal .. assaults should beat them at long ranges and scouts should beat them within 5m .. Heavys get the advantage in the HMG optimum range (this is a little skewed as certain weapons eg CR dominate the HMG at the HMG range)

I'm just glad folks like you aren't responsible for balancing DUST. Because apparently it's about that 1 vs 1 thing against a heavy. And you happen to be a scout. Scouts have a lot of advantages as it is. They can literally jump almost as high as a clone, run super fast, can traverse almost any terrain with ease. Heavies can barely clear a road without being run down by speeding LAV's, can't jump over obstacles 1 foot tall, and have the largest hit detection of anyone. And they're super slow! If you wanted to be a slayer, then choose another role. You're in a class that has the least HP of any clone. And by the way, your cloaks are coming in on 1.8. So enjoy that with your close-up shottys. Jeez. Classes aren't suppose to be invincible. Medium suits are suppose to take some damage and strafe some scouts are suppose to strafe damage heavies are suppose to take it all in Medium suits = scouts = heavies Scouts flank and gank (sneak up on heavies and own them but that can't happen because shot guns suck and the fact that heavies can turn just as fast as a scout just messes up the whole sneaking up thing. The SG doesn't do enough damage (or hit detection sucks) to down the heavie so he just turn around and kills out paper thin suits, I have gotten over 200 heavies down to 30 hp but the turn just in time to kill me in .00000000001 seconds.
I completely agree, I;m not even a scout but even I can see the SG is UP |

I proposed it before, make the heavy turn in two different speeds, first (forward 90-¦) Is like everybody else, as it's only moving his upper body. But as soon as the heavy has to move his feet, he should turn much slower (-40%). Alternatively make it impossible to walk if a heavy weapon is fired (similar to the breach FG).
The fast turning towards forward targets is needed to have a chance against strafing medium and light suits, but as soon as a scout for example gets behind a heavy, he should have a huge advantage... |

If you cant kill a heavy your doing it wrong. If your trying to kill a heavy by charging in to close quarters and wondering why you become paste your a moron. Let me enlighten you. Should a obese man with a 200 KG gun turn as fast as Usain Bolt with an Assault rifle that weighs 5 KG? Well lets get something straight heavies are not obese. It is a dropsuit not a clone therefore the dropsuit is specially made to carry significantly heavier weapons and possibly equipment. So yes absolutely. The trade off is that they can not run as fast which is a very typical trade off you can either run fast or you can carry a lot and not run so fast. Its like the gearing in a transmission you can gear up to pull a lot or to go fast using the same engine. The only reason a suit should not turn quickly would be if the suit was off balance like if a scout suit was attempting to weild a HMG the scout suit should have issues with this because it was not meant to carry such a heavy weapon so to compensate the scout would have to lean back very hard to compensate for weapon weight.
To me honestly this is ridiculous and just a bunch of people that still somehow die to heavies complaining because they cant figure out how to kill a heavy effectively and want to kneecap them in any way they can.

Scouts attacking from behind do have a huge advantage You can get in at least 1 charged nova knife attack. As a heavy i have been killed several times by scouts. Usually from being snuck up on and taking a shotgun shell to the head.
