Why would you run more than 1 ship is my question?
I can be in, out, and have dropped 3 OB in FW space before anyone even realises that I am not complexing.
I have seen entire PIE Inc fleets over planets before, but that is a waste of time and resources.

I was once informed that General tso's had around 28 guys for one battle. I heard it was very boring.

It is boring. You need 1 guy. 1 guy to OB and maybe 3-4 as guards tops......otherwise its 28 guys sitting in a circle jerk complaining about there being no fights.....that or you are wasting great values of ISK on Dust.....Dust of all things......
You could buy worthless fluff items and it would be more valuable......

A technique that our folks work is pulling in raiders on top of FW systems. We have a push on the Dust side and 9/10 fights have a couple OB pilots participate - nothing major there. We also have a small fleet that we have on stand by to drop in and take out any OB support the other team has.
We did have one instance of an EVE side escalation during a Dust match...ended up with around 20 ships on each side and we fought on the same planet 3 of 4 matches. Things rarely come together like that but it was a perfect example of what FW should be.

Dropping orbitals in Molden Heth is different to dropping them in a fw warzone. In PC players are more loyal to isk then their corp. So if you bring large forces to a small battle, your enemy will not attack because they do not want to have the loss. Plus if you have a strong force in a region your alliance will gain hegemonic power in the region scaring people away.
( I don't how to compare this to eve lore, but it is like the U.S. having its coast guard in Iraq with their Orange Choppers. There is no reason expect to show power and strength. )

Molden Heath is crawling with pirates, both baseliner and capsuleer. A single OB ship, lighting up a district may as well be a giant "Free Loot Here" sign to them. Yes, a single destroyer may bring less attention than a fleet, but the chances of being able to CONTROL that district satellite are slim to none.
It is not like the early days, where a small strike force could hold a district easily, and likely without trouble. Not anymore.
