Currently we have the Caldari (Forge Gun) and Minmatar (Heavy Machine Gun) filling two of four roles.
One is a front-loaded high-alpha weapon. The other is relatively high DPS, sustained-fire weapon.
This leaves two races unfilled, yet needing a role that has both racial "flavor", and fills a niche not already taken. Gallente favor plasma-based weapons, and in Eve Online make large use of drones. Amarr prefer to use the subliminating fire of lasers and energy neutralizers to do the Will of God.
Gallente - Dual 5 Gigajoule Plasma Cannon.
Role - Middle to close range burst-fire area denial weapon with possible Damage of Time affect.
Range - 0 to 50 meters.
Area of Effect - 2.5 meters
Magazine capacity - 10 rounds before proficiency, 20 at level 5. 1.5 sec delay fire, fires in two-round bursts, with overheat. 80 rounds in reserve at level 5.
Damage - 100 (STD) to 145 (Proto) with 5s of DoT damage at 7.5 (STD) to 15(Proto) damage per tick. Assault version is full-auto sacrificing DoT and alpha strike damage but gaining range. Breach is semi-auto with increased DoT duration, greater dispersion, slightly shorter range (45 meters), slightly higher alpha.
Dispersion - 1 M.O.A. at 50 meters.
Amarr - Man-portable Pulse Laser Turret.
Role - Middle to long range sustained-fire anti-shield weapon with alternate fire mode.
Range 0 - 300 meters
Area of Affect - 0 meters
Magazine capacity - 500 "capacitor" before proficiency. 1200 at level 5, with 3600 in reserve at level 5.
Dispersion - 0, AV lock-on, or 5 meter wide swath.
Damage - 25 damage per tick scaling rapidly upward to 150 per tick as the weapon heats up. 25 (STD) 35(Proto) with damage to heat curves accelerating geometrically for STD, ADV, and Proto. Assault version sacrifices base damage for alternate firing mode and lower heat build up. Breach version sacrifices range (100 meters) and AV lock-on mode is changed for 5 meter wide horizontal "laser knife" affect, much greater chance to overheat.
Left trigger activates AV lockon or switches from narrow beam to horizontal wide-angle "laser knife" for CQC.
