So large missiles take the most skill to use and are extremely weak against shields. Why is it that it is the most sp intensive too? It makes no sense. Large rail guns, the best turret of the three, capable of redline camping while still being effective, destroys armor and shield tanks alike, in fact any vehicle that gets in a rail tanks sights for more than a second is dead.
Shouldn't the rail turret be the most sp intensive? Blasters are good against infantry and shield tanks, however they lack range and are less effective against armor and can over heat. Lvl 1 in large turret skill needed. Seems right
Missiles are good against installations, barley effective against infantry and very effective against armor tanks. However they have a very long reload time, aiming is harder, and are not effective against shields. Lvl 5 in large turret skill needed. (Should be lvl 1 as it is the opposite of the blaster)
Rail guns are good against both armor and shields and pack a devastating alpha, longest range of the three turrets and most of the time can hit across the map, very effective against installation's, and barley effective against infantry. Can overheat, small clip size, slow tracking speed. Lvl 1 in large turret skill needed.(should be lvl 5)
Out of the three the rail has the fewest drawbacks and the most advantages. For the rediculous vehicle killing abilities of this turret it should be the most expensive to skill into. Missiles have the serious drawback of only dealing damage to one type of tank, same with blasters, they should be the lvl 1 turrets with the serious tank killer weapon being the lvl 5.
Milita railguns should go and be replaced by a milita missile turret. I have no idea why such a powerful turret is available at milita and then so easily obtained in the tank turret skill tree.

That's much better than "easy street gets when you get more SP." Missiles can be very rewarding when used by a skilled player but by no means are just a simple point and click vacation for older players.
Pvt Numnutz wrote:Missiles have the serious drawback of only dealing damage to one type of tank, same with blasters That's not true at all. Blasters do 10% less damage to armor, but that by no means makes them incapable of killing armor tanks. They might have a problem cutting through a hardener (at MIL and STD) or out-repped by an all-rep fit if they don't have any damage mods (again at MIL and STD), but they do not suffer the -20% and small clip size that makes Missile Turrets need damage mods to deal with a shield anything that isn't a unmodified Sica.
Now is the winter of our non-content.

Yes missile turrets need some experience and skill to use effectively, I'm specing into tanks just for those. I agree that it is no point and click vacation unlike the rail turret.
I could have phrased this better, that missile and blaster turrets deal less to a certain type and is there fore a drawback. I believe rails do more damage to shields than armor but let's be honest with such a high ROF and alpha damage it doesn't really matter what type of tank it is. From my experience tanking blasters do have trouble when fighting armor tanks, my first experience with tanks in 1.7 really illustrated this for me, I had a sica all milita fit and killed 3 somas with a milita blaster. The first two didn't have hardeners so I managed to get them after one overheat. The third had a hardener and I overheated twice bringing it down and scraped away with 0-0 health. I also saw a gunnlogi with an ion cannon go up against a madrugar with a rail and loose, the Maddie had more than half health after the engagement, the gunnlogi got the drop on him too. To say that blasters aren't at a disadvantage against armor tanks is like saying missile tanks aren't at a disadvantage to shield tanks. It's simply not true.
Instead of nit* picking I wish you had replied to the issue I'm bringing up. Shouldn't the end all turret require more sp than one that has significant drawbacks? That's how it is with dropships, missile turrets are the most reliable and they cost the most sp. |
