Why aren't capacitors in dust yet? Like this is the solution for every vehicle is op thing, it should of been the main feature for "windows of opportunity" BS that the DEVs talked about.

Pretty much this. Most console players aren't too patient or bright - for we EVE players who also play DUST, capacitors are a given and we understand how they work - for your run of the mill console bro, capacitors and how they work may just break their brains.
I mean hell, I want active modules and capacitors on dropsuits but imagine the sheer rage and T_T and I'm confuzzled that would come from the forums/players if implemented.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

Cooldowns do the same thing but without having to worry about the more mathy aspect of capacitors. Capacitors ala EVE would likely be a buff for Vehicles as they currently stand. I can turn my Hardener on for a second when I take heavy damage and as soon as I am around the corner, turn it off. If I do that now, I am eating a 40 second delay. With a capacitor, I just used some small amount of cap. Adding capacitor damps could go about it but you are adding two things in total when the cooldown is fine now.
Edit: And I always love when the EVE people always talk down to the 'console players.' I always imagine it as the snoody country club goers talking about "I don't understand the workers complaints; why don't they just not be poor?"

I plan on playing ps2 I played loadout for a day (first pc game) got good and wanted a keyboard and mouse for ps3...

I think this was raised at either FF last year or EVE Vegas...it's a far future thing most likely, .if it is still even on the cards.

You do realize Rouge only came in several months ago? Blaming him for something that has been around long before he got here is unfair and ignorant on your part.
That said, and I do play EVE, that I don't think capacitors would do well in an FPS setting. Between everything else that is going on in the battlefield having to manage a capacitor to boot would end up being more of a chore than a boon or fun mechanic. It works in EVE because most of then time you are only concerned with a limited number of things, none of which is usually commanding your full attention, thus you can multitask fairly well. In ground combat simplicity is king, the less things you have to micromanage the more attention you can devote to the task at hand. You don't have to aim your guns in EVE, you don't have to constantly manage flying your ship, you don't have to try to strafe or run, and you don't have to worry about situational awareness to the same degree as ground players do. You click a button or two and your gun keep shooting until you tell them otherwise, you set your ship to orbit or fly in a direction then move to another task, and you don't have to worry about building layouts or terrain like ground players do.
While I do agree, they need to draw more balancing parallels with EVE, capacitors isn't one of them. If ground players are to have variable factors then they need to be simple and easy to manage like modules with cool downs, not capacitors.
Trying flying a dropship and managing 3-4 active modules, it's not too hard but it makes life more difficult. Adding a capacitor that needs constant attention would make serious flight impossible. |

Fair enough, maybe it wasn't Rouge's fault.
Other than that, I disagree completely. There's 1000 simple shooters out there. If I wanted a simple shooter I'd be playing COD. I think capacitor management sounds like a wonderfully interesting mechanic that would add layers upon layers of depth to Dust's moment to moment gameplay, and reward those with the mental capacity to manage their capacitor well while also aiming, strafing, and staying aware of the situation. Capacitor-based infantry combat would add a truly unique feature to Dust- even if it ends up eternally being a lobby shooter. |

I really cant see infantry having a capacitor the wheel system would need a complete overhaul( it already does) and it would be a bit to complicated while using a DS3 and would promote M/KB on a console(I'm against such heretic ways) it would be just a big cluster f*** for the boots but the vehicles is a must in my eye.

From a game developer stand point it's probably not because they think it's too complex but because it wasn't designed from the start and to go back and change it now would require going very deep to the core coding and inevitably create a ton of new bugs. But maybe I'm wrong.
If/when we ever see Dust get moved to the PS4 or PC that would require them to completely remake the game since PS3's cell isn't compatible with anything, so that would be a good time for them to get capacitors in if this is in fact the issue.
Mail me in game if interested in learning about the Amarr Empire and serving them in Faction Warfare.
