This is how I would like to see the Command Structure of Dust, from a Battlefield perspective.
Fireteam - 4 man crew (3 + Team Lead) Squad - 8 man crew (2 Fireteams, one of the Team Leads is also the Squad Lead) Patrol - 16 man crew (2 Squads, one of the Squad Leads is also the Patrol Lead) Platoon - 32 man crew (2 Patrols, one of the Patrol Leads is also the Platoon Commander) Company - 64 man crew (2 Platoons, one of the Platoon Commanders is also the Company Commander) Battalion - 128 man crew (2 Companies, one of the Company Commanders is also the Battalion Commander) Brigade - 256 man crew (2 Battalions, one of the Battalion Commanders is also the Brigade Commander) Division - 512 man crew (2 Brigades, one of the Brigade Commanders is also the Division Commander. The Division Commander will be in the MCC) Corps - 1024 man crew (2 Divisions. The Corps Commander is in the Warbarge, playing the RTS game of Dust) Maximum number of clones per side on a map.
I also think that Command Suits should Mirror the Dropsuits that we have right now. So we would have Light Command Suits, with Scout Command Suits, and another Light Infantry Command Suit (because I hate the redundant Pilot Suit). Medium Command Suits, with Assault Command, and Logistics Command. Heavy Command Suits, with Sentinel Command, and Commando Command (seriously needs a better name) Suits.
Not to leave Vehicle users out, I think that Vehicles should also have their own Command Vehicles as well that would mirror how the Infantry Command is set up.
Command Suits, and Command Vehicles would give bonuses according to their Frame Size and Specialty, as well as Race, giving us the potential for some really cool variety, and symmetry, when put into practical application.
Now I know that we don't have the Command Suits yet, but I think that CCP can still put the Structure into place in preparation for them. Including the higher levels, such as the Company Commander, and Battalion Commander. Even though we might not have enough players to make those Roles useful right now, I think it's better to already have them in place so that when we do, we don't have to wait to use them.
As a side note, I think that the Command Suits/Vehicles should be silver in color. |

I meant this as a Command Structure on the battlefield. Actual Corp roles can assigned in whatever manner players feel like. But on the ground, in a fight, it's a different matter.
This goes directly into that whole Field Commander thing, hence the Command Dropsuits.
So when I say 1024 man crew, I mean having Corp A bring a 1024 men to take a district, and Corp B bringing 1024 men to defend it. Planetside 2 style. Yes, I know that's a long ways off, but I don't see any reason why the structure couldn't be implemented before that. |
