Its less than or equal to 20. Honestly, the biggest mistake they ever made was choosing UE3 instead of literally anything else. UE3 is absolute garbage, and I've never seen a game look or play good on it before, Dust Included.
Totally not Fizzer94's forum alt. Definitely just a random dude.

Maybe its because my resolution is in "Standard" Resolution (I **** you not, thats what the PS3 says Its at), so I get good frames.

I'm almost positive that it has nothing to do with the engine,as a majority of the games on PC run in just fine.
My best guess is that aside from the server side issues,it probably doesn't help that the game is running straight from your HDD.I would bet ISK that if Dust were on a disk, that would alleviate a lot of problems, mostly rendering issues like texture pop in.
MAG was an online only game, and while it wasn't a graphical masterpiece,it was pretty stable as far as framerate is concerned.I know a lot of people had the downloaded copy, but with the servers so close, and the player count lower than Dust,I don't think it mattered at that point.
Or it could just be that CCP is incompetent.

Not sure if BL2 is on UE3 or some other UE but it sometimes works alright but most of the time even it doesn't work right so I really have to agree with you.

Haha nice one. Yea I was going to say something similar "OP count them", they are quite low especially in the Gallente Research facility.

You answered your own question, nobody played it, so the queues for anything other than 32 vs 32 mode was longer than the game. It also got repetative, one faction usually had more players than the rest and therefore easily won all the ****... There were some game breaking bugs that allowed people to hide in the objective and rehack it without being killable... Along with snipers hiding outside of the battle zone up mountains they weren't supposed to get to, sometimes also inside rocks... Because (and I'm about to applaud CCP a bit here) they couldn't be arsed to stop bullets firing through single faced polys.... Just to even out the compliment CCp also have the issue of people hacking objectives from inside walls, needs a fix before everyone learns how to do it.

MAG was amazing in its early days. It was a solid foundation for a great game. However... the developers never did anything with it and eventually people got bored and moved back to CoD. It was also pretty badly balanced between factions, and the SVER faction just dominated.
When you got to max level you could prestige into a new faction, and since there was little incentive later on to play in an underpopulated faction, I think most people just ended up moving to SVER cause it was easier to play with them then against them.
But yeah, if MAG had any of the MMO-style depth this game could eventually have, it would probably still be alive and well today. It just lacked depth and people got bored eventually.
I think a lot of the people playing Dust are hoping it will eventually become what the early days of MAG were like, but with a real solid development stream behind it as well. |

I'm not sure about the faction balance issues, I spent time in all 3 factions and frankly I preferred Raven over SVER because their guns were hellishly more accurate... I just think there were less teams in the other factions, while SVER had massive teams that recruited everyone just to get them to play together... Many matches had the big SVER squads losing to a decent Raven/Valor Squad. |

I'll also give that some of the maps (especially the massive ones) were a bit uneven depending on which side you were assaulting from, but that was wiped out when they eventually allowed all maps to be defended by all teams... I spent a lot of time just running around looking for different ways in... The most OP weapon was the knife and everyone had that xD |

I always preferred laying down covering fire with my raven MG bipoded to a defensible position. On that note, wouldn't it be great if they made a spiritual successor to MAG, set during WWII.
