I have played EVE online in the past and I am currently in a trial account for it, but I have been wondering why you can't customize your character in dust? If we were allowed to have custom characters that would help a lot when they release social areas for Dust and EVE players to meet and communicate. Assuming that that is part of the plan. I know they have pve and the player market to deal with first but this would be cool! |

That is what you'll hear for some, but I absolutely agree with you. Dust is far more than just an FPS, and a custom character creator as well as social areas is sorely needed.

That's exactly what I think! I played EVE before I got in to the Dust closed beta so I envisioned a game that had Fps elements but is sooo much more than that kind of how EVE is sooooooo much more than a space flight game! |

Because CCP believes that Aurum is the way to go if you want to customize your character.

Everyone looks the same in a dropsuit... I think people are expecting a bit too much from a free to play last gen console game. |

The point is you won't be wearing a drop-suit until you deploy for battle, but in social areas and your merc quarters you will be wearing clothes you selected and you will be able to see your character. |

I would like that, but priorities dictate that CCP has much bigger fish to fry.

Based on Eve lore, there is no reason for a dust bunny to have custom faces because we all use a standard stock clone.

You know already that people have been doing the social shiet instead of playing FPS instead.

I will but upfront and say that the ONLY reason I still play is for PC battles... And to talk / chat with friends. The game is just so boring :(
Edit : I wish we had cross game chat on ps3 so that I could play a better game while talking to them that play dust lol

As I said I have been in DUST since the closed beta. The game functions just not a complete balance of equipment. People complain about getting proto-stomped but that's is exactly how it's suppose to be proto's should always beat std gear, the problem is there is no way for newbies to get up to proto level gear, but that problem will be fixed when pve comes into play giving people a viable option. just like in eve you wouldn't go into pvp with a beginner ship just to get blown up by a Superior battleship. |

^^^They seem customized to me (even when video does not reflect an actual match), but it will take time. I just think that customizable character will help the new ployer comunity and get more loyar players to the circuit (personally i spend a lot of time in customizing).

Well, to be fair, this is an FPS where turrets are literally unable to fire at times. I think the most important thing in a shooter is to actually be able to shoot.
Customization is an easy way for CCP to make some money off of us mercs without it running into problems of "I paid more so I am better" or "I paid so I should be better." Of course, EVE doesn't even really have it. Oh, they have ways to fully customize your character and EVE has the best character creator I have seen for being able to change which way your eyes are looking or the slant of your skin... but it is for a snapshot. Until the deadly environmental breach is fixed in stations, all of EVE will only see people as names with snapshots.
Of course, I like to believe that good ol' Joseph wears his dropsuit when he sleeps. It is like he is wearing his pajamas into battle! |
