Is there any purpose to sniping on that dom map? Are there any half-decent sightlines? Am I simply being ignorant when I fly into a rage upon finding that six blueberries are sniping on that map from the very beginning of the game? Or is it really as useless as I think it is?

Domination is the ultimate sniping game mode and I predicted it would be nothing more than a sniping fest. Probably working as intended.

Supposedly there's a decent spot on some tower or something, I've never been able to find it.

Not that I look too hard, I LOVE that map, you can go killdozer heavy or logi to your hearts content and rack up a ton of points, or get a scout and farm tears with REs. The possibilities are endless... Or maybe just those 3, but they're all pretty sweet.

Ah. Then my post has been misinterpreted- it's not a "I wish the map made snipers more useful" topic, it's a "I wish I could climb out of these blueberries' TVs and punch them in my heavy suit personally for trying to snipe on that map" topic.

No, there's really no purpose in sniping on that map. It was designed to be an assault map in which most of the action takes place underground and on the upper level of the city (Note that the rooftops don't have ledges you can peak off). Most of the action is in the hallway from the supply depo to Alpha, the backdoor from Charlie, or the building closest to the Echo entrance. If anyone's sniping on it at the beginning, it's probably cause they've jumped out of the MCC and are aiming at the reds running from their ground spawn into the city or in the mountains over Echo. The only viable perches are above the bridge where Bravo would be in Skirmish, and on top of the building near the Echo entrance of the city (need a DS for both). Sharkfin towers aren't viable anymore. With those spots though, the sight lines only cover the main road. It's dependent on enemy difficulty, behavior, and uplink placement. It's best just to leave this map if you're looking to snipe, otherwise swap to another role.

you CAN actually snipe on that map BUT anyone who consistantly snips from more then 200m away will NOT have the skills nessesary to do so sucessfully... so that leaves a handfull of people at best who are even capable of making such a thinng work, i personally know several of the spots that work but i dont snipe :P

most snipers arnt sniping because they are trying to get kills, they are sniping because its a safe and profitable way to semi-afk to good result. its the same reason you will still find reline railtanks on that map even though the only thing they could possable shoot at are dropships who are probably smart enough to bring a burner virper or smart enough to use the giant building as cover.

There is a great spot for covering the doorway across on the second floor of that two story outside platform where Bravo is on skirmish mode. You have a bar or two down by the door that, though makes it difficult to snipe, nonetheless gives you some protection from getting strafed from someone moving out of the doorway.

Also, I'd think you could do one better if you fly a dropship up to the roof above that position and get them as they come to the doorway.

I snipe there often and do pretty well. I take a DS to the rooftop w/square drop hole on it and stand on the ledge above to snipe between the slats. Its a good spot because it has a wide view of the room next to objective where reds camp/defend. Also it takesthem a while to fidgure out where the sniper is :D

Any viable sniper spots on that map would be inside the city. Most of them are probably only accessible using a dropship. The objective area is open to the sky, so presumably if a sniper got up there they could pick off the people below, at least until someone realized where they are being sniped from and picked them off with an Infantry rifle. A sniper might have some success sniping from the street down through the open areas.

If a sniper is not near the objective they are probably not helping on that map.

It's the best Dom map, because it's all infantry combat. It's great. #NanohiveSpam

It's my favorite too, that's why I got so incredibly mad at these snipers for gimping my team. I started the way I always do: dropship to the rim of the objective cylinder, 6 uplinks evenly spaced on the rim. Get to the depot, get nanohives down in the objective room, repeat with advanced hives, then switch to my heavy and go to work. Only this time, I get zerged and the 3-4 teammates who were with me go down like flies. No one even spawns in on my uplinks to hold the objective. I check the spawn screen to see that at least 5 (i don't remember exactly) of my teammates were sitting in the hills with sniper rifles.

 I can snipe here.

I went 20+ a couple times, and usually have some decent angels on the objective.

where I will not say, start looking =)

it's funny because nobody expects to get sniped on this one.
