Or some high resistance bonus. Or a deflection thingy. Applies to FOV. Doesn't apply to explosive damage. I can't go wrong for requesting a buff to nova knives right? I have no sp in nova knives too.. Schwingschwing this would make for an interesting defensive sidearm no?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Do you mean, make them like a lightsaber where you magically bat away bullets? |

its not a defensive side arm its offensive and it takes a level of skill to kill people with them efficiently

I guess I just don't see what this would add to the game. If you're running around with knives, generally either your opponent is instantly dead, or you are. I don't see a way to implement it that's not either completely overpowered or entirely useless- either it makes the knifer impossible to kill, or, once the knifer gets spotted, it's not going to be enough to save them. |

I have to counter your idea, Smoky.
I don't see the need for this. If anything, this is just downright making the knives OP as hell. Imagine everyone fitting knives.
Also, the nova knives, ironically, don't do well as defensive sidearms. But they sure as hell make excellent offensive primary weapons and their damage output is amazing (1150 HP with just the skills alone before damage mods).

I wouldn't intend to make it op of course. More of like a niche ability kinda like what awry mentioned, something that's there yet to be discovered by people who haven't read this thread. It could last a legnth of like about a tenth of the attack animation and it's effectiveness would be mostly situational. And I may have gone too far touting this as a defensive maneuver at first.

Still, allowing even a moment of invincibility is just borderline OP or teetering close to it. Since I am an experienced knifer with literally about one and half years experience I can say for certainty that there are only two issues with the knives to be addressed.
1. The FOV is too restricting especially in a CQC situation. 2. Lack of a sprint-charge feature means we have to constantly deal with back pedalers who can just move back at the same speed as we move forward with charged knives while they shoot us in the face.
Your idea will not address either of those two issues. Besides, there is another thread in the General section of the forums already covering ideas on how to address the issues I mentioned above. In fact, Mollerz' idea on ADS affecting the FOV in reverse to allow wider FOV in CQC and my idea of bringing back the sprint charge will address both issues entirely without making the knives OP at all.

This sounds like a great idea for a new melee weapon, but I generally agree with leaving the current knives alone (and yes, I'm basically suggesting that you blast me with that HMG you're holding.)
