I'm still sitting on my basic caldari frames, and mini light frames. I've only spent one point in caldari assaults to use my raven suit. Yes the frames do cost more then the specialized suites, but they aren't as sp intensive. I am weaker then almost everyone I also solo quite often. But I'm still able to hold my own quite well.
Most of the points that would have gone into the specialized suits were used in core skills, unlocking my beloved rail rifle, and other "weapons". A fair bit was also spent on vehicle skills.
Why did i choose to not specialize?: because of foresight. I knew there would have been a suit overhaul at some point. There will also be many other tweaks right after the update. So not specializing has saved me quite a bit of sp to spend on other things.
PS: I don't care if the rail rifle is being nerfed, I still love it. <3 if it were rendered useless, I still have many other weapons to use.

I love you how you phrase the opening like a question people could help you with and then blatantly say you were right, lol. I have 70% of my SP in core skills and have but have my scout to 4 just for the bonus while I am wearing the standard suit.
Also, if there is a respect for suits, (CCP has even stated they are getting pushback from the community AND the CPM's) then all the foresight is useless, in fact, everyone that got to experience having those suits now have a leg up in choosing new suits!

In all seriousness if you're happy with the play style then use it! It's not like there is an SP monitoring police that punishes you for it. |

Probably getting a respec anyway so ya didn't really save anything, and if not oh well, specializing gave me +5 armor repair and 25% lighter equipment, and I still had plenty for weapons and I nearly have dropsuit upgrades maxed out
