Make the CR jam if bursts are fired too fast in sucession. It wouldn't actually change the firerate but it would deter R1 spam and turbo controller abuse. Click R1 faster than the firerate and it increases the odds of the next shot jamming. The unjamming process can be short, like 1-1.5 seconds, and could possibly be tied to the combat rifle reload speed skill. If someone has control over their rate of fire they should never get a jam.

+1 CR could use a drawback. I actually expected it to fire like the br from halo. I'm ashamed to admit that when I first used this weapon, I fired in bursts just like in halo... When I realised that its fire rate was practically unlimited I was shocked at how quickly it shreds enemies!
Anyway, jamming mechanic similar to overheating would be a great idea. |

Why not make a draw back based on its item description:
Combat Rifle wrote:"A gas-operated, short-barrelled weapon, the combat rifle is a semi-automatic weapon well-suited to both short and medium range combat. Classified as a light support weapon, it is typically employed in target-rich environments: The high volume of fire produced enables operators to engage multiple targets in rapid succession, while the weaponGÇÖs extended range keeps the operator just beyond the threat threshold of most standard assault rifles.
It's advanced bullpup configuration reduces weapon weight and improves manoeuvrability, making it the ideal crossover weapon for urban and field combat. The modular design has more practical advantages as well: cheap to maintain and easily replaced if damaged, itGÇÖs one of the most reliable weapons in service today." This gun uses pressurized gas to propel its bullets. Every time you fire the weapon, you lose a bit of pressure and consequently the damage decreases with pressure loss. Of course if the gun isn't fired for a few seconds, the gun would regenerate the expended pressurized gas. This would serve to discourage pray and spray behavior much like the scrambler rifle's over heat mechanic; but in its own unique rusty Minmatar duct-tape way.
If this drawback is used for the combat rifle, a pressure gauge would be needed in the HUD for this weapon. It could easily fit in the space used to display charge and/or heat build up.

No. For once CCP understands more about firearms than you do.
Gas operated means that the bolt, receiver, magazine and ammuntion operate by using a direct impingement system to cycle the bolt mechanism.
If CCP wanted to make the thing "more real" it'd jam after getting a whisp of dirt in the receiver and need to be cleaned out.
Then again if CCP did that to the CR it would beg why the rest of the firearms in the game all have pathetic engagement ranges. |

Your request for rifle jam on one weapon sounds an awful lot like QQ, and should be subject to troll like behaviours, that said, when you make one rifle jam all others must jam. The scr is not a good example of what should be done and neither is the Tac-AR. Truly you are feeding the troll on this OP don't be a derp.
Edit: I think you should stick to firing weapons rather than "fixing" them. -1

Thanks for the correction.

A 0.1-0.2 second delay between bursts would fix it better.
Best PVE idea I've seen.

Ar's will probably be more useable in 1.8 with the gallente assault suit plasma hybrid weapon spread reduction perk coming.
