If this guy was in charge of the federal reserve we'd be in a worldwide depression.
I'd like a dev blog from this guy.
As it stands, there are certain corps that can afford unlimited proto gear. I might be able to as well, but there is no player market, so I am locked up in non-liquid assets. When can I expect to turn my assets into liquid funds? New players are just completely pwn3d. period. They will have no chance outside of hundreds of hours of grinding, and even then there skills won't be there.
What is going to be done about the disparity in resources handed out freely to a small percentage of players, while the rest of us are left to combat them with inferior resources? I know I like to play minmatar, but it's getting pretty silly.
The pay out for matches needs to be increased substantially.
Pub stomping is a direct result of this hobbled pay out mechanic. Frankly, once again, a PHD in economics is nothing. I spent years on US trading floors from the AMEX in NY, to the PCX in SF, CA. Not one trading firm I've worked for would give the eve economist the time of day. You want to really know who the super star elite traders were? High school and college drop outs, failed history teachers, people who's family did it for generations, etc. You know what economic PHDs do? Talk on MSNBC and are wrong 95% of the time. Typically, they become analysts. And they are almost always wrong. A method of gaming the market.
I think this guy needs to step up. How long does he need? Could you imagine the federal reserve system taking this much time to figure out the world economy? We'd all be eating our pets and killing our neighbors.
STEP UP, dude! This is only a video game, and you can't, after a year, do anything whatsoever?
hmm?

It's more along the lines of 'economist is in charge but the only method of communications they have is Chinese Whispers'.

This is exactly how you make an economy, guys.
Good thing those programmers are getting the implementation right.

So you're blaming the economist for the game designers not yet implementing player-market? Do you think the devs said "hey, we want to have a player market", and the economist replied "screw that, don't bother"? I think you're seriously overestimating the guy's impact on Dust, and also completely ignoring his work on EVE's economy which is working well from what I understand.
"PHDs economists are wrong and dumb, etc" your idea of increasing payouts is not that smart either. Raising ISK payouts won't solve proto-stomping at all, it will just make it less unsustainable. With the cheap gear new players have access to, ISK is never the real issue; the issue is the lack of proper NPE (combat tutorials, general "how to" info, etc), the differences in experience, the difference in SP, and the tier gaps. You could start a newb out with a billion ISK, and I guarantee they will still do terribly.
Going to bed now.

There's an old joke that went along the lines of, "You can ask ten economist the same question and get ten different answers." Not to say having one on staff is bad or anything. More diverse sources of info is a good thing and all.
Here, have some candy and a Like. :-)

Exactly i can go in any battle with a free suit and still have a decent game. Its not the gear it the experience that makes people good. New players come to the game thinking its call of duty |

You get some rest?
It's hard to overestimate someone who oversaw the complete breakdown of the dust economy as well as a lack of any meaningful changes since 1.0 dropped.
Most would call that ineffectual.
