It has come to my attention that a vast majority of the playerbase on these forums have no idea what Webifiers are, nor what they do. To put it bluntly, they are traps that slow down a target a considerable amount. Supposedly Webifiers are being designed to work both against infantry, and vehicles.
This brings to mind all the people who complain that their AV is "useless". Frankly put a single player can already solo a tank with hardeners if the AV user knows what he/she is doing, and the rest seem to just get completely screwed over because all they do is just run blindly after a vehicle and start firing as soon as the vehicle is in range.
While these won't alleviate the ignorant users, Webifiers will make it considerably easier for those with even moderate AV know-how to take down a tank, since the theoretical slowing values are about %50-%70 vs vehicles, this would create a semi-advantageous realm for AV users close to nodes or other structures, causing it to be more hazardous for a tank to enter because the environment would have to be monitored further than before.
Basically, what I'm trying to say here is that vehicle balance is almost in a green zone, it's currently in an orange region that neighbors a red patch. If the following things were to be implemented:
Webifiers Swarms +50m lock range, and improved damage on the STD, and ADV variants Dropships gain resistance VS Tank Railgun shots (20% ADS, 50% STD)
Then vehicles would damn near be balanced..
The only problems now are, where are the Webifiers? Who is working on them? When might they be coming out?

1: webifiers have a short range, and are not infinite (due to cap drain), so it wouldn't be a you got forever and a day to kill the paused HAV.
2: There's many more problems with HAV's other than that.

Yes I'm well aware what they are and it's one of the many things missing that breaks eve parity. |

Why would dropships take less damage from small ground mounted anti tank weapons designed to even peel back small space craft armour?

I want nosferatus.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

It would be interesting if you listed these problems that would not be addressed in some format by the webifier. Mind you that price of vehicle and the redline are two entirely different topics that are being discussed on other fronts.

If you're looking for logic, where balance is needed, then I cannot help you with that. But the obvious would be that they have graded ablative armor, and the railgun blasts have to travel through an atmosphere. Just like how you can't use an airplane propeller underwater effectively. If the shots fire too hot in an atmosphere you end up igniting yourself. No need to worry about such things in space however, so quite obviously they would not be able to use the exact same systems.

The same reason you can survive a grenade exploding under your feet with the right perks in CoD.
The same reason you can jump off a 3 story building with the right field kit and take marginal damage in BF4.
Balance for the sake of diversity trumphs any logic in a competative game.
Edit - removed redundant sentence. |
