Keep in mind that this was in a jungle of AV that was so much wilder than it is today, and you never had a scrub in a tank because they couldn't afford the loss. It was very unforgiving. Get good fast, or go home crying.
This separated the truly skilled, and I mean the TRULY skilled, from the mediocre.
I miss this, not because of the tank spam ((it's not what this post is about) although it helps) but because of the sheer Darwinism that it brought out.
Anyway, just thought I'd reminisce about the good ol' days!
Anyone remember seeing and/or fearing a berry in a tank?

75% of the guys that tank now that think they are tankers wouldn't have lasted a week back then.

No they wouldn't.
I can physically see my tanking getting worse throughout 1.7 since I have no fear of losing my HAV.....its like the moral of The Dark Knight Rises in Dust 514......
How can I more faster, hit harder, react with greater mental alacrity.....if I do not have fear.

I do miss the back and forth that could happen with a good tank when I hopped into an av suit.
Now it's just back for me and forth for them.
I am part shovel, part man, full scout, and a little bit special.

You know, it *is* possible to turn on hard mode. Sica, afterburner (not nitro, afterburner) to replace the heavy booster, 2nd high slot empty, 2x ammo expansions in the lows, turret of choice.
Then, you will know fear. |

I know you shouldn't have to. It seems a little silly though to complain that you're bored with your OP tank when it's not the hull that's OP, it's the well fit hull that's OP. No one is forcing you to run the most effective fittings. Hardeners are tank FoTM like bricked GalLogis are infantry FoTM, but some people still play scouts. |

I do it because it slows down the degredation of my Tanking skills.
If I do not risk more, then I have no fear or cocern of loosing HAV, and it get slack. If I get slack I become a weak tanker, and no better than the scrubs who jumped band waggon this build.
