How is that even possible?
A quick refresher: Firing a Large Rail Gun Turret in the 1.7 tanks is a hit or miss (pun!) situation. Often they will not fire and if one is in a battle and accesses some of their modules the gun will cease to even pretend to fire. Some have told me that if they access a second hardener it will lock up a LRG or LMT.
Pretending to fire is a common, and increasingly more common everyday this last week, is when the gun will not actually fire rounds that leave the gun. The gun makes the boomie noises but no damage is delivered to the target. As there is no round actually fired! There are also variations on whether there is any heat build up.
The situation is aggravated by the tendency to fire one more round than the operator wanted to. Then the gun will overheat and is out of commission until it cools back down.
The last week the refuse to fire syndrome has been occurring often whereas before it was a few times a day. Now, get ready to visit it every few matches. |

Yay! There is nothing more fun than having a battle end just before you were to die a certain death.
Of course, the worst reason in the world to be in the position of that same death would be to have your Stinking Rail Gun Turret fire five rounds, send none out, heat the gun for three and then decide to reload all while another tank is moving on your position.
Yes, the rail guns triggers of death are still offering death to the user as well as the target.
Let us all hope that somebody that has a Dev flag will note that the humor is long gone for their little prank. |

Yeah this is a problem. The HUD for the large turret lags and makes you think you fired one less shot than you actually did so you overheat.
And then it will fire "ghost rounds" that don't do damage or use up ammo.
I have also died in many tank fights because of the glitch where you activate a module and it causes your turret to stop working.

This happens to me all the time with a rail turret. And now it is even happening to me with a blaster turret. The gun simply will not fire, often after turning on my hardner. I was not overheated and I had ammo but the turret would not fire.
CCP please tell us something about this glitch.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
The only way to ensure freedom is by having the means to defend it.

I know CCP is not going to do anything with this bug as they have yet to acknowledge that it exists. Any bug they deny has yet to be fixed so far.
However, here is an interesting observation. I was gunning for another tanker. While gunning with a particle accelerator the gun emptied its clip while my finger was not on the trigger. Fairly normal failure mode for this class of bug (a entire class of bugs that are ignored, interesting). However my driver asked what I was doing firing my gun? I told him I wasn't. It just emptied itself.
Except he saw the gun firing!
Which leads me to suspect that the more common and even less likely to ever be fixed by CCP problem is the firing state of (any) weapon can get confused between the various clients and the server.
I fired then stopped firing. The server missed that I stopped firing and had me empty my weapon. Which wouldn't be possible if that was totally under control by my client software as the gun would overheat long before it had emptied the clip.
This is most likely the same situation that many players find themselves in when their weapon does not fire, the target receives no damage as well as many other weapon/damage combinations. The server is out of sync with the clients.
CCP will not be able to fix this I suspect. The good news is that it will still be a problem in Legion.
Nobody at CCP cares because we ain't Legionnaires.
