I re-watched the dust demo of 2009 eve fanfest and they mentioned that they originally had a plan to spend war points on calling in vehicles, specifically they said that you order vehicles based on war points but that's how I'm interpreting it. Obviously this system now would create some tension because vehicle users would spend all of these points and isk customizing their vehicles and then wouldn't be able to use them whenever they wanted or maybe not even at all depending on the match, but the idea of spending war points on tactical support isn't such a terrible idea.
Let's say your squad's war points are gathered into a pool of spending credit, and that you can spend these war points to "buy" orbital strikes, not too different of a system we have now, you meet a quota and place an order and no-one's score gets diminished from using this spending money.
Now let's say you could use these spendable war points to buy more than just orbital strikes? This opens up a world of possibilities, calling in installations, ordering different kinds of strikes, other strategic support type thingies(TM). I also don't think we should limit all of these capabilities to only be accessed by the squad leader as some support type thingies might be more beneficial to other individuals where the squad leader isn't located, and the squad leader doesn't know all and see all, so I think any member of the squad should be able to make a request for OMS (except for things like orbital strikes) which the squad leader then has to authorize.
Obviously none of this matters until we actually can call in installations or get other kinds of strikes or maybe can work with drones, but I think this kind of system would be good for laying in the groundwork for these changes, after all I think it would get boring to have everything in the game be based on isk.

Why not just allow us to call in a " installation drop" drops a random installation on the map in an area that it can already be......not much coding required ( or so it sounds I'm not good with computers)
Make it cost 700-1000 wp Or make turret drops cost 700 and supply depots/Cru cost 1000
I'd also like to be able to see something that is fired from the MCC....like a barrage of missiles that it fires at the opposing MCC but fired at a targeted area like an orbital....but with less damage

I just like the idea of calling one in wherever the hell you want so long as it's not blocked by anything above it, but yeah that's the general idea lol

Yet another one of the possible avenues this game has incredible potential in. I would however, be very surprised if we ever even see the ability to place turrets. (Installations has been a part of the 'menu' for a long time and still no word.)

I think that this should be added to the discussion of the Command Suit classes.
Boost your squad's points by 40%, learn to use the Squad Wheel!
