It's a great reassurance since the are I live in is the close to wonderfully sinister things like the gun-maniacs who took control of the NRA decades ago or the largest founding group of the Tea Party. It leaves me open to idiotic ideas of eugenics or violent social change.
But thankfully I visit the forums and read vicious comments and malicious ideas from non-Americans. Knowing that there are idiots everywhere is a great comfort. It builds my empathy for other guys and gals who are stuck dealing with the same crap.
As for the main topic. Olympics LOL, what a corrupt joke. Decades late on the drugs issue and the officials shop around for bribes. Events are added or pulled based on politics. Many governments throw resources at these games that could be better spent elsewhere, general exercise programs open to their own citizens for example.
