So with the current orbital mechanics you have to sit on a district for 3 minutes before you can fire an orbital. Well honestly it is kind of immersion breaking, why must I wait 3 minutes before firing? My guns can go so much faster!
Solution: Instead of a straight 3 minute hard time what if, over those 3 minutes, your orbital gains accuracy as you "lock on". So you could keep launching orbitals as fast as dust players are willing to call them in, however with no time between orbitals you cannot accurately "lock on" so your shots are random across the battlefield. Then, after having waited the full 3 minutes, your orbitals drop exactly where dust players call them in.

This seems like a nice idea and it encourages players to wait first to gain maximum accuracy.
However, I see a problem with this.
We need far bigger maps than what we currently have. At the moment, blind firing can become exceedingly dangerous to the friendlies given the restricted size of the area we are given. If the redline were to at least expand by a factor of 4 or eliminate the redline entirely (and I mean ALL of the redline - not just the spawn zones) so that there is enough spread of the friendlies to mitigate collateral damage in the event someone does a series of blind fires.

Have you ever actually dropped an OB in FW? Do you have any idea how much of a nightmare it would be hitting friendlies? It only takes one awry laser strike to catapult you over the FF limit.

I don't know about others but I find the prospect of blind fired orbitals to be a chilling thought. There is already an over abundance of ways to die in this game, randomly dropped orbitals need not be one. |

I will admit, with the current map sizes it serves a limited purpose. If the maps were actually expanded out to say 2-3 km and the maximum deviation of an orbital was about a 500m meter zone (compared to a 10m zone for a precise laser OB) then things could get interesting. |

I likey. If a player is smart then they will be patient and wait for the pilot to lock on. However, if the squad lead wants to be reckless, then they can drop the orbital and potentially kill their team, hence getting them kicked. Rise vs Reward
Please implement this =)

Quite possible the worst idea I've heard in a long time. And trust me, there have been some bad ones out there. NO military commander would blind fire the equivalent of artillery unless they were sadistic or completely SOL.
That being said, if you want to imagine that the 3 minutes is there for a purpose, you can imagine that the time spent is locking the sensors onto the district (with each OB, knocking the lock-on sensors out of whack to explain why you have to redo it). After all, it's a big planet and we're only fighting on a tiny bit of it. Imaging trying to shoot a gun and hit a certain block from the ISS, ain't gonna happen easily pal. |

ridiculous idea. If you could drop as fast as you could cycle your guns even at low accuracy then nothing would stop you from calling a new OB every 10 seconds or so and just cover the other side's half of the map with constant bombardments.
If blood and sweat don't teach them perhaps time will
