Can we please allow the ability to mark targets?
Before scanners came out everyone had the ability to see everyone on the field because there was a mechanic that basically allowed players to share sensory data. Later on after scanners came out and were changed to mark targets more clearly and the sight sharing was removed we could still see every enemy on the field because scanners could cover a 360 degree range and no-one bothered to put on profile dampeners. Now scanners are going to be changed so that you can't just spin around and scan the entire field, only what's in front of you, this is great, and with the changes to scouts and cloaks in general there's gonna be alot less visibility and intel.
So why don't we give the ability for any player to mark a target, any target, maybe not even an enemy one, you should just be able to point at something, press a button, and an icon appears over it for your squad to see, and icon that disappears after a few seconds and doesn't award any extra war points.
How should it be done? I would prefer it if we replaced the functionality of one of the d-pad buttons with just a universal marker tool (probably get rid of the push to talk button because honestly who uses it? scoreboard is just as useless you can see your score after the match). When this button is pressed it just automatically turns into one of the 4 squad leader orders, if you're aiming at an enemy it becomes an attack order, if it's an objective it becomes a capture order, if it's an ally it's a defend order, if it's just some random part of the map with nothing going on it's a rally order or just a waypoint. (Might be a problem when you come up against an enemy installation, do you attack or capture? Well talking to your team can clear that up, really as long as a blinking icon goes where you want it that's all that matters) If you're the squad leader then these orders remain until replaced or canceled and provide extra war points, if you're just a teammate then they disappear after a little bit and award no extra war points.
Why have this in the game? Because visual aids help with communication, and this is probably the simplest change to the game that can help and enable communication without a mic or just more clear and direct communication.

I'll admit I didn't read the entire post, but I think it should be based on DB, where you can only spot people with the same or higher profile meaning scouts won't get spotted heavys for 10 seconds... and CCP will have to find a easy to reach button. (not like squad orders)
Edit: I think it would be fine to remove the scoreboard for it but make it accesible through the map.

Fair to base it on scanner precision and scan profile at least for marking enemies

And yeah there's alot we can do to shift around the d-pad designated buttons, if we had the start button pull up the neocom instead of go into the main menu you could consolidate the OMS, vehicle requisition, scoreboard, and map all into 1 tab without taking your eye off of the battlefield, same way you pull up the communication bar without disrupting everything. That would free up ALL of the d-pad buttons for whatever the hell you want.
