It is a month that reminds us over and over again of our past that many wish to forget. I hate this month for this reason. A nation cannot start to heal itself until we learn from our past. Thanks to the game knock out that wound continues to be reopened. We as a nation say we should integrate but so many are trying to segregate us. Perfect example is television, how many channels cater to one specific race, another example is the disparity in our economy and in our school systems. When we all are put on the same level both in wealth and knowledge that is the time we will begin to truly be a free nation.

as a person of color, I don't really like it when issues of race are brought under the spotlight as a forced message of integration. So black history month? not my thing. Hispanic history month (which I think is May) not really my thing.
Morgan Freeman really said it best.
p.s. on a side note, I do like how marvel comics are starting to introduce more people of color, even if they are doing it in a rather clumsy, inept way (but more on that in another discussion).
