Hello everyone, I have an idea for a possible new equipment, deployable turrets. I think this could be a new and interesting way to mixup the battlefield. My idea is that these would work like a drop link, warping in a turret to a specific location. They could be placed on top of things and could be a good defense for either infantry or vehicles. In fact, that could be options for the higher tier turrets. They would be able to scan 360, but have a limited range. The turret would not fire unless the target is within range. This would force people to get creative with placement, instead of dropping it out in the middle of a field to get blasted at range. Kills by your turret would give you kill assist point similar to scanners do now. I broke out the pros and cons below, looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts or concerns.
PROS: able to scan 360 degrees (targets show up for all squad to see, similar to scanners now) able to fire at vehicles or infantry deployable anywhere many different versions in upper tiers
CONS: limited shield and armor limited scan range possible high CPU / PG cost |

Yes. But i think these turrets shoudl be really low DPS. Like a "suppressive" or an "little" extra DPS when fighting.
Per example the "blaster" variant (if one version per race) could be same than assault rifle with WAY less demage. => 10 hp per shot / 750rpm.

I think I'd give it an arc, instead of a full 360 view. So like an Uplink, your placement choice matters.
Limit the range so that it only fires at Optimal, or maybe half Optimal range.
You could actually keep the damage profile the same (assuming of course you mean to base these off of current Infantry Rifles, which would be my suggestion) since you wouldn't be able to put Damage Mods on them, and they wouldn't benefit from the Proficiency Skill.
Lastly, I would give them limited ammo. When the ammo is expended they go poof (as note, I wouldn't have them benefit from Hives at all). Since the turrets wouldn't have to reload, I would cut the ammo total to maybe half of what the base rifle Type has. |

Sounds like a small (blaster/rail/missile) turret. Currently we only have large turrets, and are not player deployable. Whenever CCP decides to implement player deployable installations we could see stuff like this.

You mean I can be an Engineer from team fortress again? SOLD!
Like Hagintora said, arc would be preferred to a full 360. Flux grenades could also disable them for a bit.

I like the arc idea, makes sense. Also I was thinking that flux grenades could disable them. |
