I would rather see 2 different methods for dealing with vehicle quota.
X HAVs X DS X LAV
^ This has been suggested before but it is worth reminding of. This seems like a reasonable approach but then the maximum potential of vehicles on field is not reached if say no one pulls out a DS or LAV. So then assets are sort of missing from the field. However it would sure as hell balance vehicle quantities on the field.
Another method would to have a soft cap on ISK value of vehicles brought in. However this wouldn't work out so well with the current prices on Somas and Sicas.... but basically say there's a vehicle quota @ 1.5 Mill (just hypothetical not a suggestion)
Basically that would cap out at 2 Madrugars or something, 2-3 ADS, 3-4 Proper Dropships, or 5-6 proper LAVs. Of course Militia vehicles would throw off the available number of vehicles to be deployed but it's factual that militia are weaker than standard.
Good ideas, bad? I just think that current vehicle quota is just so radically biased to the larger vehicles. I mean when should 9 HAVs be able to romp around in one match? A good HAV is already influential enough to the match and same with an ADS, why should game mechanics allow spam of such potent vehicles?

ISK cap is definitely a bad idea. The idea of militia is that it's not *that* much worse than STD. Two MLT tanks > 1 well-fit STD tank any day of the week, assuming the MLT tanks work together. |

I agree that ISK cap requires radical MLT overwork.

Problem with making different vehicle caps is that if some scrubs hit the quota, that leaves me with a 400k SP dropsuit which is considerably worse than my ~13mil SP Gunnlogi.
It wouldn't be fair for infantry either if you had limits to certain suits, now would it? Say, 2 logis per team because I hate going up against a squad of 3 heavies and 3 logis
If such a vehicle cap is implemented, then I think relevant SP should determine who gets their vehicle called in. If the tank cap is reached but all of the tanks are scrubs, then I should still be able to call in my Gunnlogi and the tank with the least amount of SP is instantaneously disintegrated by nanites (to allow for a better piloted tank to be brought into battle). Harsh, right?
So, either no unique vehicle caps (leave the quota as is), or allow SP dominance to determine who gets a vehicle.

I agree. If you complain about blueberries now, just imagine how much more so you will complain once they use one of your team's tank spots with a vehicle that will most likely die without much team benefit. |
