Is this anything like suddenly having a heavy's run speed after dropping equipment, because if so... yes, it does indeed suck.
Sometimes I miss never seeing tanks in a battle... then I remember the mystical flying soma, and I can't help but smile.

No, you begin to stutter or slow down when being hit by an enemy, happens a lot when running directly at them. Pretty annoying for Shotgunners.

Happens a lot when running directly away from them. Gets me killed all the friken time.

Yeah, it's ********. You are either going to die in one shot as if you have no protection or you live and move normally because you are wearing a protective suit.
Do one or the other CCP but stop with the half injured movement thing when we are not actually half injured. We are ok until dead.

yeah i had this happen when triying to forge a tank i spawned right next to him and i hit the fire button on my controller and the forge wont charge im being fired upon by ARs RRs Scrs and the tank and its slowing my already ******* slow walking and i finally relase the fie button on my controler and repress then it wants to charge but by that time im already at 1/4 armor FML

Even more annoying for Scouts as they don't have the chance to make a hasty retreat as speed is their shields and armor, it just holds you there for the .5 seconds it takes to take out our 300 hp!!

I love how this was posted about months ago and a CPM posted that there was no physical impulses that effect your run speed when getting shot... REALLY!?!? Just gave me the impression that most CPM don't even play this game...

Discuss. Glad you posted this, i've been stewing on this for a while. You're right it's gotta go. When peeps complain about how clinky DUST is this mechanic bears a goodly part of the blame. Back when we asked for a mechanic that modelled the effects of incoming fire, not one single Beta Tester asked for this. This was one of those arbitrary changes CCP made to the game without bouncing it off their players first.
The slowdown, which affects both linear motion and rotation, is a gameplay-destroying mechanic. It absolutely wrecks the Scout class, and it jarringly disrupts fast, kinetic gameplay for everyone else. Without exaggeration, changing this is the single biggest improvement that can be made to DUST's feel and gameplay.
It is very low-hanging fruit.
But taking fire without repercussions is unrealistic and unsatisfactory. The replacement mechanic should be a 'rattle' that scales with the caliber of incoming fire and inversely scales with the mass of the dropsuit frame, including armor plates. This would add a lot of richness & immersion to gameplay and theorycrafting, and armor tankers would get something to balance the speed penalty. Lasers - no rattle, scramblers only a little, plasma more, rails more, projectiles most.
That's just a suggested replacement mechanic, but the core takeaway message is:
The slowdown mechanic needs to go - it's hurting DUST and hurting the game.

I thought it was just me. Glad I am not that much more crazy then normal. Seems to be once I hit armor I slow down which makes going for cover quite hard. Between the TTK and this pretty much every engagement boils down to who shot who first.
CCP your matchmaking is better but still sucks a fair amount

The true issue here is that the Impulse Effect happens EVEN when your SHIELD is being shot.... your shield is supposed to deflect the shots before they even hit your armor.... seeing as the shots are DEFLECTED BEFORE REACHING YOUR PHYSICAL BEING, I just can't comprehend how this effect makes sense when affecting shield.
I understand Physical Impulses on Armor, if the armor you are wearing is Phsyically hit when the shields are down THEN I WOULD UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE CONCEPT.
