After stumbling across an amazing teacher, shout-out to Bojo the Mighty, I have been progressing down the path of a professional LAV pilot. Though I am still very inexperienced with the everything, I am pretty much ready to start experimenting with fittings, and I am looking for inspiration.

I would appreciate if people could post up one of their go-to fittings, or a really fun fitting they have tested and they feel works okay. Following the basic law of alchemy, equivalent exchange, I will post my go-to fitting for other people to use if they so wish.

 Saga II

 High Slots:
 Reactive Deflection Field I
 Basic Heavy Shield Extender

 Low Slot:
 Militia Railgun Ammo Expansion Unit

 Turret:
 20GJ Particle Accelerator

This is the fit I run almost exclusively, it focuses on being a Saga, just a lot of hit 'n' run style shootings, and naturally, Road Kills. Blaster Tanks are easy to get away from, unless they surprise you at a point where it is nearly impossible to get away. Trying to get away from Rail Tanks can go either way. The first shot takes out most of your shields, but not all, so if you get lucky you can dodge shots until your shields regen to a point where your Deflection Field makes a difference. If you cannot dodge the second shot, however, then you're screwed, and 85k isk goes down the drain. I have not gone up against a Missile Tank yet. Driving into a complex allows you avoid all but the most talented Dropship pilots, depending on the complex. Most opposing LAVs are easy to outmanoeuvre, as they are either low-torque Methanas, or they are militia LAVs which are pretty much never a threat. Sadly, due to being underpowered, Sagas are pretty rare and I have not encountered another one on an opposing team yet. I don't expect people to post up a paragraph explanation like this about their fitting, and if you actually read through all of that I thank you for taking time out of your day to do so.

You know what this fit is gonna be.

 Methana -
 High : Scanner
Low : Basic Hardener / Enhanced Light Rep
 Turret : ADV Railgun

Requirements - X amount of Armor Fitting Prof.

It's the best LAV fit in the game.

I do have a number of concept fits for when Shield Boosters stop sucking though

 Keep Attacking I
 Saga - Keep Attacking
 Shields : 1512 (+900) / Armor 900
High : Enhanced Shield Extender / Enhanced Shield Booster
Low : Enhanced CPU Extender (if Missiles)
 Turret : ADV Anything

Saga - Optimized Keep Attacking II
 Shields : 1680 / Armor : 900
High : Complex Light Shield Extender + Complex Shield Booster
 Low : Complex PG Extender
Turret : ADV Blaster or Rail
 (Requires Shield Fitting Prof.)

This is stuff I had made for pre1.7 though, I could easily drop the boosters to Basic and maximize the health of the vehicle without sacrificing much in terms of utility. I had never realized that Basic Hardeners would have worked as well as they did on vehicles before 1.7 (thought the cooldown would be too prohibitive) so I'd probably change it around to Complex Shield Extenders + Basic Boosters and take advantage of my cooldown reduction skill to make it more viable.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough of a supply of them to do any sort of extensive testing before I ran out. Would have liked to have played around with a Shield Extender -> Nitrous -> Overdrive Saga though.

 Maybe in 1.8~

These are pretty interesting. Sadly my skills are no where near high enough to make those (Tomorrow I get Vehicle Core Upgrades to Lvl. 3.... Yay!), but the concept seems pretty good. Hopefully soon I can try out my Double Damage mod fit against some dropships, and I would like to mess around with the Missile Turret when I can skill into it.

Woah! Slow Down! Your Going Too Fast!

Sagas with just the nitrous are a bit hard to control, that's just going to be insane.

But I can just smell the Road Kill, ooooh the Road Kill.......

You can always ask me to drop down a Missile Methana/Saga for you whenever we squad up. I have them up to Proto now so you can definitely experiment with Missile turrets and see whether or not it's something you'd want to skill into. Personally I don't think they're as effective from an infantry perspective on ground vehicles, its much easier to make use of their splash and such when shooting from above (Dropship).

And ha, if you want hard to control you should have seen when 1.7 first dropped and Militia Nitrous mods were bugged to a 100% Speed increase. Tanks could fly and LAVs were like lightning.

Before 1.7 I actually pretty much went ham with the theory fitting and made a bunch of concept Saga fits. Here's the post -

 Bump!

On a note to my LAV Research buddies, I picked up two more people for the channel. I ran into them, one gunning and one driving, in a pub match. They were running Methana with the Particle Accelerator, so I know you guys will swoon over that(Gallente Plebs!), and combined they got 2000wp. So make sure to say hi to Neo Rune and Treek(I can't remember if that was his name, but I know it is close and it had some numbers after) when you see them.

And keep those fits coming, I'm at a strong lack of inspiration. I'm using my LAV only when I go on Line Harvest, and even then usually for only half of the match.

Hope to stab you guys soon.........

Good to see some new faces in the channel then, looking forward to squadding up with them. We're sort of at a roadblock whey n it comes to LAV fittings though, with the current selection of modules theres 0 reason not to stack eHP in every situation, so that means hardeners, plates, extenders, and using whatever's left over for something on the utility side (sup Methana). Hopefully we'll see some more diversity when other LAV variants and modules (hello remote repair modules) become available again.

Alas, C'est Dust 514. Balance shall never truly be achieved. Lets just give the Saga..... maybe..... 30000
more shields so it doesn't have to stack extenders/hardeners and can be more for utility.

Just a question to the LAV Research guys, what is you record for a solo match K/D wise? This means just you running around switching to your turret to get kills when you need to.

I recently went 31/3/0 and was wondering if someone like Foundation has topped that(though I would not be surprised). I've seen Foundation go 16/0 by himself before and he made it seem easy so 40/0 shouldn't be hard for him either, right?

Also what is your opinion on Jihad Jeeping guys?

I've witnessed Found go at least 24/1 IRC

K LAVs, from the perspective of LAV crews like us, are subpar and an abuse. However on the other side, we've been in those matches where there are 6 HAVs and things are just too crazy.

Sadly, I haven't learned the ways of the Solo LAV. (I'm a scrub that way) But with XxVexesxX We've gone 33/7/0 with a methana Blaster fit.

Most of my fits are Methana based due to the higher survival rate.

Man, you guys missed a great game today.

It was Foundation, Theex, a friend of his, and myself doing a 4-man Road-Kill competition.

 Rules for the Road-Kill competition:

 1. Your LAV is not allowed to have a turret.

 2. You are not allowed to get out of your LAV for any reason.

 3. No Jihad Jeeping!

We follow these rules and bet a certain amount of isk, in this case it was 500 000. The losers each pay the winner the required amount of isk at the end, and the winner is the person who got the most Road-Kills, which is the only type of kills you can get when you follow the rules.

Plus it was on Manus Peak against What The French, so it was cramped and full of tanks. I have never had so much fun in Dust before.

Hopefully we can have more of these competitions, as I have only participated in two, and from what I know I came up with this event. (But tell me if you guys have done this before)

i remove my turret and fit a scanner on mine. didn't really wanna drop the SP on II just for the shield booster. about 1600/1500 HP or so. complex shield and complex plate iirc. i run a MD/min assault/lav and try to scan for lone wolfs or flank a squad that is bogged down in a firefight. i fire 2-4 MD rounds into their ranks then re enter lav and leave before they retaliate, reload, return and repeat.
