In no way am I trying to promote this game by saying this, it's only a fact here (and a depressing one).
GTA Online, in 4 months of it being out, has released more (actually new) content into the game than dust has in over its entire 1+ years of being developed.

I understand they are two completely different games, etc. But GTA isn't even an MMO, like dust is, where new content is usually welcomed (and needed) to support the community who want to grow with it. With Dust right now, there's no growing, there hasn't been for over a year, just adjustments to content we've already been dealing with since chromosome.

It's just this large amount of nothingness that I can't stand with Dust. I have no clue how so many other veterans have stuck to just fighting in the same maps, with the same tactics, for the same amount of SP, over and over and over again. For me it's wearing thin quick, and I have to usually take monthly breaks from this game because its just so stale now.

Yes, but this niche game has a backing of a giant, online MMO that has hundreds of thousands of members, with arguably one of the most dedicated fanbases in gaming history, you'd think they would know a thing or two about how to conduct a good start-up for a game like this..

Rockstar has an absolutely huge development team (Numbering more then 500 employees for GTA online alone while dust doesn't even have 100 I believe and some of those devs are split between iceland and shanghai). If they didn't release that much content in 4 months then they would've been seen as a joke to every other game company. Really for the amount of devs they have working on GTA online they are actually doing pretty bad on the new content. Also not to mention that GTA V was guaranteed profit so it got plenty of money to spend on the game. (The largest budget for any game made so far in fact) Also after having made over a billion dollars within three days of release you should have plenty of money to make the game better without any risk. Oh and Rockstar has said GTA onliebn is going to continue even after GTA V. Rockstar wants GTA online to be a continued way of making money so of course they're going to release a lot of new content to keep their playerbase contempt so they can make more money.
Seriously I don't even see why people compare two games with one being made by a niche indie company and the other being made by a triple A company with an already established playerbase. Hell the two aren't even the same type of game. |

Yea and why do you think this game hasn't been shutdown yet? Because of the money EVE makes. Any other company would've already ditched dust 514 by now seeing as this game barely averages little over 4k players at peak times. Although the dev team for dust is a lot smaller then EVEs. |

It will. People act as if every new update is the final build. CCP have stated that **** gets real once the market between EVE and DUST is established and that's just one milestone. Given more time in the oven this game will shine. People are just short sighted, impatient and stupid.

But see, that's what CCP claimed Dust was pretty much going to be (at least in 1-2 years), nearly free-roam esque, with GIANT maps that effect the entire universe with what happens on those battlefields. But, as it stands now and has stood for over an entire year, it's just a standard shooter with small-medium maps that still is infected with poor mechanics and controls.

Gta gives you whatever they see popular on BET, gta is kimd of a low class trashy game tbh, I know it appeals to many of you but mamy of you reading this are also no class and trashy. |

GTA Online is trying to be an MMO. That is rockstars attempt at an MMO. Do you get that? Also CCP does not make anywhere near as much as Rockstar does especially considering Rockstar has multiple triple A titles EVERY YEAR making them billions. Also EVE maybe considered a very good game but it is not triple A. Triple A is CoD, GTA, and Battlefield. You know the games that have well over 1 million players each. Also do you realize that game companies wont dump money into a game unless they are seeing a profit from that game. Which less money = less employees which=less people working on the game which= less and lower quality content. Also most of the profit from EVE most likely goes back to EVEs budget. Dust most likely gets barely enough money to stay afloat from EVE. |

We can trade between EVE players, that's great & all, but still in no way creates a more immersive experience for the average dust player. What's needed for Dust is a completely new re-modeling and vision for what dust was SUPPOSED to be. Not this lobby shooter that we've been given to on a gilded platter. Each update should be signifigant, should have meaningful content, instead of small adjustments that apparently took 5+ months to figure out, with little to no new content at all. What exactly are the employees at shanghai doing? They need to be focusing all of their time & assets on each update as it comes.

Dust is so far from where it claimed it was going to be by now it's not even funny, and CCP has a triple A game behind it's belt, and is making certainly a good amount of money from it CONSTANTLY. GTA V isn't supported in the way EVE is, it only has cash cards to bring in monthly income (and not a lot of people get cash cards). EvE and it's Plex system is an entirely different story however. And to think that a company with such a successful monopoly lets Shanghai bring Dust into complete ruin from the first start makes me completely confused. Replying to the part you edited in: Why would GTA need support like EVE when Rockstar makes plenty of money from the many games they make every year. You got to realize Rockstars only game isnt gta. They have many different franchises that make plenty of money while CCP has two games one of which most likely makes little to no profit. EvE makes plenty of profit. Plex, Plex, Plex, and more Plex. One game making a profit doesn't mean they can go dump a bunch of it into a game that makes little to no money. You do know EVE still makes expansions and stuff right? If they started putting a bunch of money into this game they would have to cut down on EVEs budget which I can bet you that is not something the executives want to do. |

most dlc that is released with games isnt good enough to be worth any extra money at all.
ranges from map packs, extra game modes, maybe an extra pve mission or 2 or questline depending on the game. not worth the 20 extra$.
so not only did u buy the game new at launch for around 30-60$ possibly more. your now paying an extra 20-100$ extra for the dlc that they just so happen to "release" after a few days of the game being out. if u choose to get the dlc.
if not then your pretty much cut off alone out there and the game feels empty with nothing to do. since every1 else is all playing the dlc stuff.
this is a f2p game. more than likely updates are going to be rather slow. but should be making a steady income from all the players who are purchasing aurum and stuff. allowing for our updates which sometimes feel to be few and far between. and new content seems to be rarely released most likely due to ccp trying to take every suggestion into account and put in ideas which are spammed on the forums the most. rarely do i see any good ideas on these forums as they r few and far between as well. and mostly shot down to the last thread in the first few minutes.
oh and eve onlines subscription fee probably pays for alot of it.. |

Play to cap, that is all. BPO Templar and try hard logi fits. These are the only reason I still play. I have this nasty feeling that TESO will kick my DUST addiction for good...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO then who will get on my level?

Just a complete lack of progress on the part of the devs is more than apparent, even CPM pretty much all quit their job because it was so miserable, what does that say about how things are going over there in Shanghai right now? Dust doesn't have a replay value at all. That's no end to it (unless you get all skills to 5, including the useless ones) and even then, it's a multiplayer game.
If it had PvE then maybe.
Right now, it's just play to catch up on SP. |

At this point my congratulations to CCP for getting this game so far that I already invested a little amount into Aurum to get those skill boosters. Why I start with that? - Because it fits my opinion.
Ten years ago Eve Online's peak times had also only 4k players in it's first year. Damn, there was no real content at all and look where it is right now!
I play Eve for over seven years now and I don't regret it.
And I'll stay with Dust, login tomorrow again to fight my daily four battles, grab my ISK, the skill points and stay patient until those shiny fighters get released. That's so far I am looking for the moment.
Until that day I look forward to see Amarr and Minmatar MCCs, LAVs, HAVs and Dropships get released. Bigger maps...
Oh and in between; CCP... get some live into the hacking consoles and more movement into my arm holo while hacking. The numbers and letters should change. Somewhere down the line of course. Would be nice.
And until all this comes. I'll check the forums, read stuff like this here login for some battle before going to work, get rid of some aggressive tendencies before seeing my boss again (Healthier this way, he's annoying... okay, she.) and enjoy to be part of this beginning and next step into getting New Eden to be the first real virtual reality.
That is CCP's master plan as I remind it and for a niche game here with a already very dedicated community, even if small compared to games like GTA V, they are trying and how they try.
Guess someone will understand what I am trying to say. I'll do my part to get this game here forward and to do so I'll stay with my Eve characters, fight my battles in the dust, write stuff like this and be happy to be part of something growing. Something with potential still. Like this other game, this spaceship game that started into it's second decade recently and few people know about. Not so much people maybe but the one that matter I think, along with those 3k or 4k round about the clock in Dust 514. |
