how many RE's would be used on a dropship and does it need to punch it's target with speed or could RE be placed on the bottom and just land on the tank and have a 2nd player detonate from there?

If they're your own REs, the dropship will have to explode on impact in order to set them off. I don't how it works for blowing someone else's remotes with an impact.
But for DS bombing I find it much better to have someone else plant them, then have them detonate on your mark.
6 is enough to take out most tanks, but hardened shields occasionally survive that, so 8+ is the point of no return.

Set the RE on the bottom of the DS and just drop it on the tank. The LAV is the cheaper way to go, but for style points go with a DS. I like your idea and if you message me in game I will supply the RE's and the DS just going to need you to pilot it. Problem is I am the one one who will get the points because they are going to my RE's. So if there is anyway I can help just message me in game and if you have a MIC this will make it work even better.

Jihad Dropship won't work quite the way you want it to. I've made the attempt, and you're guaranteed to be out a good chunk of ISK for each one. Small arms fire might not do much to your shields, but if one of those RE's detonates before you want it to, you'll be doing a dropship backflip and lose it.
I've gotten into "two-man Jihad Jeeps." Mad Bomber fit (3 different kinds of Remote Explosives) and a driver. I have a fairly tanky Ishukone Watch LAV (free one). Throw ten remotes on it. 15,000 damage on the jeep for one good Jihad blast (And all the driver has to do is get CLOSE, rather than suicide) and he goes back to the "staging area" typically near a supply depot, or somewhere with lots of Nanohives. Rinse, repeat.
Alternatively, the explosives can be spread out on the LAV to turn it into a mobile bomb with a 15m blast radius (using the center of the LAV as a reference for point of origin.) that can be detonated 3 times before it needs to be primed again.
Do it right and it really is a "Hold my beer, this is gonna be awesome!" moment.

Tried it the other week with an experienced ds pilot, I jumped out before hand, he landed on the tank I blew all three sets of my remotes, nuthin... then he blew up.
Mission failed.

i really dig the mobile bomb fit do you use caldari lavs or gallente ???

np i'm not concerned about the points just that someone looses a tank. will probably do it on this char as i dont care about his kdr. do you have a channel i can join? i have a mic.

For a taste of overkill use ALL 9 RE types which = 36 REs and 54,000 damage.
