re..... Nah Squad of 8 persons. Protostomping is already a problem with squad of 6, squad of 8 would not create more problems, let me play with more of my friends.
Team is 16 and 16/2=8, it probably would be better than squad of 6. If people create squad of 8 there will be more full squads vs full squads instead of (squad,squad,random) VS (squad, random,random).
Opinions?
EDIT: if teams goes up to 24 you can divide it for 8 (3 squads), if teams goes up to 32 you can divide it for 8 (4 squads).
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

Wouldn't bother me if it was 8 guys in a squad. Would just mean more guys who could drive vehicles and also more WP and OBs.

OBs would have to be changed, they're already too easy for 6 people.
Tank squads would be even worse.
Sure some corps already pubstomp as hard as you can stomp, however it would allow even more, mediocre, squads to pubstomp randoms.
It wouldn't cause more squads to fight each other because the overall # of squads at one time on dust would be decreased, thus distributing them out between matches more rarely per match, less squads means its more rare to see them, means its more rare to see 2 in 1 match.
So....ya. The more squad members means more fun in a squad sure, but it f*cks up balance even more really. We need them brought back down to 4 for balance, but it does mean squads are less fun. So its a touchy subject.
But if you wanna go up against 8 nyains in an ambush thats cool i guess.

Not a bad idea. I kinda wish they'd bring back 4-Merc squads. Either way, its pretty obvious something squad related should be changed up. Just my .02 ISK. |

why not incorporate a platoon system that mirror's eve's fleet system with someone in charge of the multiple squads so we can just team deploy

Another issue is how the game handles matchmaking. With a team of 8 you will find yourself waiting longer for matches and as stated above the game will more likely be 1 squad vs no squad rather than produce more squads going against each other.
Team deploy currently would have the same issue. In public matches once one random is assigned you would have to wait for a completely new game to start. Could be feasible for faction warfare. |

The only numbers that really work with dropships are 4, 6, and 7.
Why was 4 good? 1 pilot, 2 gunners, 1 pair of eyes on the ground (preferably sniping AVers)

Realistically, any good number for vehicles needs to either be a multiple of 3, or a multiple of 3, with 1 added onto it

Unless CCP revamps the warbarge strike mechanics. They are bad enough as is (in relation to pub matches). I've yet to see CCP even acknowledge the current issues surrounding them. I'd rather not have the problem exacerbated by 8 member squads. |
