Todays topic: Locked State vs "District Locking"
Something I have seen come up in threads and conversations numerous times shows that several members of the Planetary Conquest community still don't understand the difference between a district that shows as "Locked" on the Starmap and "District Locking".
Locked (aka Locked Online): When a district on the Starmap shows as Locked this means that the timer has been adjusted or clones from another district that the owner corporation has have been moved to the district. The owning corp can apply no further actions to the district until the locked state ends. An external corp can, however, launch an attack on the district with either a clone pack or by moving clones from another district.
District Locking: This is when a corp self-attacks their own district with an alt corp in order to prevent a hostile corp from attacking the district. On the Starmap the district will show as "Under Attack". Due to the current game mechanics this can be done at no cost and results in "Perma-locking" where the district remains unavailable for attack while still generating passive ISK.
Again I hope this clears up some confusion in the terminology that the community uses vs what occurs on the Starmap.
TLDR: District showing as "Locked" on the Starmap can still be attacked.

Not only that but CCP has yet to fix a bug that allows you to open a battle once a district is relocked through the star map.
Once the battle for your locked district commences and you wait an hour the clone pack money you spent from the locking corp will be refunded.
After then re-locking the same district you can select the district you just locked in the star map menu and selecting the district will prompt an option to "join battle"
This battle is the battle the clone pack was just refunded for. When you enter the MCC's will be equal and should be about 3/4 into armor.
Hack w/e you want and then at the conclusion of the battle you will be given either 12 million in genolution or 15 mill (12 if you entered and hacked a point through the district owning corp and 15 million if you entered from the locking corp)
This can be done for each district each time is relocked and the pack is refunded!
There is no clone loss or change of any kind to the district upon using this exploit.
This is called Isk duplication.

This has been one of those things I've been trying to get through people's skulls forever. The community going with "district locking" as a term was probably bad. But then, displaying a district as "Locked" when you can attack it was probably a bad move on CCP's part too. People have never really wrapped their heads around it well, probably because they aren't the folks in their corp which directly deal with PC mechanics, more often than not.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

So are CCP ever going to 'Fix' PC? Also are they going to turn PC into something awesome like it should be or will it forever stay a cheap knock off version of skirmish?
I remember back when people had grand ideas about having tactical elements. Being able to make it your home, positioning turrets where you want them etc....
That's another thing - I am fed up of seeing "Installation" every time I call in a vehicle in the menu and never having anything in there. |
