A new piece of equipment, nearly identical to the Repair Gun in application. You pull it out, and point it at anything that can be hacked: objective panel, supply depot, CRU, large turret installation, or enemy vehicle. A beam comes out and hacks for you at a distance. You need to maintain line of sight, so no hacking through walls or behind perfect cover. Time to hack is 50% longer than your normal hack speed at STD level. Code Breaker Mods affect the speed with which you use the WiFi equipment.
What this does is allows some specialization as a professional Hacker. You can hack more safely, outside the range of REs. Given a choice of spots within a reasonable range, (10 to 20m maybe?) it will be harder for a single overwatch sniper to watch an objective. As an equipment piece, you obviously cannot use weapons while you set yourself up. The length of time to hack means you need extra protection if trying to steal an objective away from a heavily entrenched enemy. |

I like the concept, but isn't all our hacking WiFi? I mean, yea, we stand near a panel, but we don't hack through it, and we don't attach a cable either.
But, I do like the idea. Practicality though? Have to have a line of sight on an objective still equals easy sniper kills in my book.

Think of skirmish beta on the line harvester map. Lots of hills and jersey barriers all around the null cannon panel, but snipers regularly get a spot that looks directly into the gazebo. You could get line of site while hugging a wall a little further down. |

I'm just thinking of current Manus Peak, in particular A. Without changing the map up, line of sight=sniper bait. Maybe, at some extreme angle it would be effective. On other maps, I see the value, its one objective on one map that will always bug me.
What we really need, multipurpose drones: hacking, overwatch, healing, resupply, deterrence, etc.

I doubt military companies in New Eden would be foolish enough to install wifi receivers onto null cannons.

1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

Then all one needs to do to find you is to follow the cable on the ground. Lol

I'd rather have it to where if an objective senses a sniper's scope is aimed tangential to its circumference, it fires a head shot at said sniper.

I dunno, they did invent a null that can't be destroyed if every member of both sides fired on it constantly for the endurance of the entire match. that can lead to hubris.
