It had a purpose back in the days of lazerHMG, but otherwise, I'm inclined to agree that it's useless. |

It has more range but not by much it is worthless as much as the burst. I laugh when a burst user tries to take on multiple targets, they die because it overheats and it jams to easily. I use the basic HMG but I also have my stats near maxed, so when you see a basic Dren dropping proto heavies do not be surprised, it is the player not the suit that makes the game. So go no higher than the advance model and you should be fine. Just play like all the heavies I have trained, fear no one and when you are facing someone try and ram your HMG up their ass. The worse that may happen is you die, your fellow team members will mop up the rest. Just be the anchor in the sea of madness and know your the baddest Mother F***** on the planet

Burst HMG needs a longer burst and slightly reduced overheat. Assault HMG needs slightly more DPS.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Assault has about the same range as an Assault Rifle. However, at longer ranges the spread makes that extra range almost useless.

and yeah my general concensus is that it is currently useless maybe 1 day ccp will show us the light and make it a viable weapon but no its just about worthless in my experience

I tend to disagree about the burst.... Pick your engagements carefully and you can wipe out entire squads without reloading or overheating

From my experience, it's just short of being a viable weapon. Increasing it's burst from 50 to 60, and reducing the overheat so the burst increase won't cause to overheat faster is all I'm asking for.

In PC you'll find most of the good heavies use six kin over boundless. You'll win up to two engagements before being taken out if you know your positionings well - while a boundless a 1v1 confrontation with a CR user can be rough. Since you're going to lose range fights regardless anyways - it just seems smarter to use Six Kin for higher DPS. If you don't just tap away the heat build up isn't that bad, just don't rush in as if it was a boundless. |

If I'm on a map with few interiors (Manus Peak), the Assault on a KinCat tanked Sentinel is pretty awesome. The range improvement is very noticeable and if you dealt with the laser-accurate HMG era, then hitting and eliminating your targets isn't a big deal. *The MO-4 Assault is not worth the price. Don't bother.
There was a range stat at one point, I assume it was removed about the same time that they removed your fitting's scan fidelity - which are probably the most relevant stats right now.

The Assault has (I believe) 10 extra meters for it's optimal. But with the exact same spread as the standard HMG, that extra range means squat. I think just tightening the dispersion would make the Assault more viable.
