Or do the assault versions fly better?
I bumped a red off a building and stole one of the Cal ones but I'm not sure which and it handled WAY nicer.

Both STD dropships handle like flying elephants. Assault dropships handle much better. The incubus is much more sluggish than the python though.

Python is generally better than the Incubus at everything other than killing shield vehicles.
Better agility, better resistance to AV, faster, better vs infantry, better vs armor tanks, and you don't have to switch fits to engage infantry or vehicles.
Also in 1.8 Pythons will be the only ADS to reliably take out forge gun sentinels, that 25% resistance to blast damage is going to hurt missile Incubus a lot, you won't be able to slug it out like a Python can, since you also take additional damage from forge guns, and you have a bigger weakspot.

For some reason I'd always assumed they all handled the same till I stole one today, jebus was I wrong.
I do feel a bit dirty thinking about flying Caldari tech on purpose though lol

Caldari have more horizontal speed.
Gallente have more vertical speed.
That said, I'm a horrible Caldari pilot, but I'm "alright" at Gallente dropships. I don't know. I guess the federation taught me well. |

If they are anything like the ground vehicles which I assume they are, Gallente have more speed and Caldari have Better Acceleration.
But I don't think our vehicles represent either Caldari or Gallente Quite well.
Caldari vehicles perform the way I thought Minmitar vehicles would behave and Gallente Acts more in a way I thought would be Amarr.

The militia ones fly very differently to the others. They have stabilisers that automagically straighten the dropship. Probably makes it easier for new flyers but I just find it restrictive and annoying. |

Incubus has better agility and doesnt slide....

Caldari ships fly a bit faster i believe, and are more maneuverable.
All assault dropships fly incredibly better than STD ships, but still the Python (caldari) is faster and smoother, but probably weaker than the Incubus.
Personally i prefer Gallente dropships, and even prefer Standard over Assault. Just a matter of taste. |
