knowing what I know now.
Without knowledge my ISK would be wasted and then I wouldn't have anything. There are plenty of naturally skilled players that quit DUST simply because they don't know what they are doing.
Question: Why was SP not included in this survey?

As someone who got a sh*t ton of ISK...
Skill magnitudes more important, you can have ISK and run proto every match but at the end of the day it does not matter what you run in pub matches it matters what skills you have to fight other people in PC matches where it really counts. Because in PC no matter how much ISK you are willing to spend the other side will spend the same amount. In PC whether you have 10Mil or 1Bil ISK you will still run the same gear and it will come down to who has more skill...

DUST 514 isn't just an ordinary FPS, even now. Even with all the accusations of "still just a lobby shooter", there's more to the game than just the second-to-second combat gameplay. Managing your ISK is equally important to how you fight on the battlefield. It's an important skill in DUST. Being good with ISK is skill, just as much as being good with a controller in FPS gameplay is skill. Someone "skilled" with FPS gameplay, but without considering ISK, is not skilled at the game. They're only good at one part of the game.
So, like I said...

It used to be skill, then 1.7 hit and "rebalanced" tanks, and the combat rifle/rail rifle were released. Now it is all about isk. |

Skill. You can give me the best, most expensive Assault Dropship in the game and, assuming I had the SP, I would crash it within 35 seconds. Give an ADS pilot the worst fit ADS with the cheapest stuff and they would do infinitely than myself.
Having full prototype won't help you if you don't know how to flank or how to get a favorable engagement. To quote Full Frontal Nerdity: "Gold comes and goes but experience is forever" |

It depends.
Without at least some skill, any amount of ISK won't help. However, for an average player, switching from militia to full proto will improve performance far more than a moderate skill increase. |
