Dude, like why don't I see any people use this? It's like THE most unused weapon in the game (Aside from mass drivers after they got nerfed :P) I got level 3 (Elm-7) and got 2 Complex Damage Mods on it and it mercs like a boss x3

Getting fixed for 1.8.
I've got proficiency in LR, it is cool, but a well trained RR will LOL your face to pieces, better range, damage...

I have the RR on my logi and my commando/sentinel, TBO it is just OP, makes me look good. STD commando dropsuit, ADV RR and CR, maul protos.

I pull out my LR, it sends out a huge beam that lets everyone on the map can see. It overheats and has a teeny tiny optimal.
RR user fires at me from the same range, longer range, shorter range with no overheat, no damage difference, and I don't know where he is because he has no bullet trails and makes very little sound.
That's what I rarely use my beloved LR anymore. 1.8 will be a glorious rebirth of the cleansing light of God himself...

I use mine a lot. The sweet spot seems too narrow but when you are the perfect range it is unstoppable. On an Amarr assault with decent skills it is the best weapon in the game. It is difficult to use but it is a killer when used correctly, I also have one on a templar sentinel and it is really fun. The added EHP and the feedback damage reduction works great.

You haven't met a Viziam at optimal then. Melts a heavy in about 4 seconds. I drop RR and CR at optimal faster than they can react. If I ever decide to get a proto suit it will be bonused towards LRs and have three complex damage mods. The only problem with the LR is the narrow optimal. I got a 156M kill today with it but I forgot to take a picture.

It's called weapon loyalty. People who aren't douchebags tend to stick with a preferred weapon or set of weapons, rather than chase the FOTM and run from anything that got nerfed.
For the record, viziam laser rifles used to be super OP when they were released because the damage stat was a typo (or something of the sort), making them much more powerful than intended (although not ridiculously so).
Kindof funny how it took several months for people to figure that out. Beginning of the build they were rarely used, and at the end they were everywhere.

unless you had a silver duvolle with sharpshooter V on a heavy type II. then they were just over confident targets.

I have been using the Laser Rifle lately and I love it. It melts and suppresses people in seconds, but you have to be very careful.

That suit is garbage. No rep, and terrible shield recharge. It needs at least one low slot and one high slot.

Oldie but a goodie. It is hard to let go of a good weapon. I used an ELM in chrome and for a long time it was the only weapon I carried because I was a logi. I would push it to just before overheat every time and when they put the iron sights on it I couldn't use it. I have just now started to use it a good bit more to deal with CR and RR crazy ranges. I would have never put SP into a scrambler if the LR wasn't totally borked. To be completely honest I use an Exile AR 90% of the time because in most cases I am doing logi stuff not pulling triggers. If I am going to try to be a killer I use the LR almost every time because I love that stupid rifle.
The LR needs different wavelength versions so I can choose the range I like to fight at.

The LR is my favorite weapon. It has the most unique mechanics of any weapon I've ever played (in any FPS) that make it a lot of fun. It has serious pros and major cons as well. I stopped using it after 1.7 except on rare occasions. It lost its niche.
I can't wait to play with it again in 1.8.

I still pull it out from time to time and run it in conjunction with an assault scram. Very nice. Great for melting scouts and snipers, not so much for anything else. The issue is that it takes time to deal full damage, and a competent player will run for cover before you can really tear a chunk out of him. The rr, in similar circumstances, performs much better. Looking forward to the hot fix, whenever that happens.

Let's say I do. And you beat me. Then what? We now have an incomplete set of data. So we try a few times, swapping weapons, changing fits. You beat me the first time; clearly you're better at FPS than me. You beat me consistently, regardless of setups.
The game runs this sh*t. There's a reason Alldin Kan is OP with the Scrambler+ak.0 combo. Combo's good, sure, but it sure ain't the suit.
Happily printing ISK with permahardeners and MLT blasters.
Just let me get a couple mil more before nerf, CCP!
