Is it because the weapons had travel time, or is it that glitch from Halo where shots come out of dead bodies?
Because I've killed people with AR's and they've killed me with AR's, but I was told that they were hitscan weapons. So what sorcery is this?

I've seen bullets come out of a dead body lying on the ground. Almost killed me! No joke.
Sometimes, though, it happens because if travel time. Only thing I can think of us when me and another shotty user die at the same time because of our pellets flying at each other simultaneously. |

Any bullets that are fired at the time of death are magically cancelled, even if they are fully outside of the barrel. The only exception is the rapid-fire weaponry, where rigor mortis can hold the trigger down for a short time with no aim whatsoever, but ONLY if the user keeps the trigger held as they die. As soon as they let go, or the gun runs out of ammo, that's it for the bullet spasm.

SCR's are notorious for being able to spam about 3-4 shots after they die.
SOURCE: Shotgunned an Amarr in the face. Died immediately afterwards, cause of spammed ScR point blank and enough shots connected to kill my scout.

If you have a rail rifle, if you do not let go of the trigger when you die your rail rifle will continue to fire shots , this is not restricted by any clip size and I am pretty sure the rail rounds still cause damage.
Check it out next time you die with a rail rifle. Make sure you continue to hold the fire button. Quite amusing although I have not managed to kill someone like this.
Obviously an unintended mechanic. |

Do you recall the shotgun-suicide glitch in Halo 3? It happens whenever two Spartans face each other in a 1v1 encounter, each with a shotgun, they fire at each other at optimal range at the exact same time and kill each other.
One of them gets the kill while the other suffers a suicide penalty somehow.

I do not believe this does damage. I clearly remember a time where I died while holding the trigger, and about 10-20 shots connected with the redberry in front of me, but no damage was registered.

Actually it does damage and I'm calling you out on that. For example last match I had I went 1 vs 1 with a merc who had an AR and I with my scr. He killed me but some how in my death screen I head shot him thus killing each other.

It's lag.
Rigor mortis nothing. Don't know if you guys have noticed a: the increased lag recently and b: the fact that this is actually happening now?
Also, most weapons are hitscan. i.e. no travel time.
Happily printing ISK with permahardeners and MLT blasters.
Just let me get a couple mil more before nerf, CCP!

That's what I was going to suggest. For instance, sometimes you actually keep getting shot after you duck around a corner trying to get out of someone's line of sight. It's got to be the lag. |

^ This.
Lag has gotten worse this build. I remember the first day of 1.7, there were two instances of the enemy and I killing each other at the same time all in the same day. In 1.6, that never happened.
The PC and SL should fit into the Sidearm slot so it's accessible and practical to carry one.

Latency issues, the game is unplayable on foreign servers for me lately, so I just bring my logi with a repper.
Fun fact: Rail Rifles keep shooting after you hold down the button when you die. I once got revived while doing it, but I couldn't test out if the (infinite) bullets would damage an enemy due to the huge kickback by the time a new enemy appeared. |

Quote:, or is it that glitch from Halo where shots come out of dead bodies? And no.
Both "the glitch where shots come out of dead bodies" and "when you and an enemy kill each other" come from the same thing: Latency. In a player-hosted game, both players can kill one another when neither of them is the host, and in a game with servers (like DUST) it can happen with any players.
Basically, you fire your shots (no travel time), see them hit the enemy, and your copy of the game sends the damage info to the game server. At the same time, the enemy fires at you (also with no travel time), and THEIR copy of the game sends damage info to the server. Both sets of damage are sent to the server before either one reaches it, so when the server receives them both, it treats them both as being valid, and kills you both off.
On your screen, it's possible for this to look like a "glitch" where the enemy is shown dying before their shots are tracked and the damage applied, but that doesn't actually mean their corpse shot you - on THEIR screen, the reverse situation happened and YOU died first. |
