A temporary fix to the lag would be to have match searches attempt to match players locally before spreading out the match searches world or country wide or adding battle server region option of local so players aren't spread so thin across the tranquility server and forced to lag like crazy

Well this would probably extend search times but i know a lot of players are willing to wait a few minutes for a twenty minute dom or skirmish not to lag

The matchmaking system probably already takes into account distance by virtue of ping. The issue here is that there aren't enough players.

The issue here is that there aren't enough players. Completely true but that's why it would be a temporary fix and why i think it should be made optional. I lose a lot of suits and isk because of this lag, I'm willing to wait a good deal longer for matches

The correct answer to your issue, then, is client side PVE. Of course, even though this was promised more than two years ago, here we are...
PVE= no lag + more players |

I agree, most seasoned fps players immediately recognise lag and will not play. i will only play at certain hours of the day; because having ASIA/NA/EU all in the same match on an American server blows. I have my region set to America 24/7.
how many jumps would merc go through to fiight? every router is a jump. Lag is bad, because it is so recognisable. UDP over TCP/IP circa 1982. |

Suggestion, stop trying to make matches, deploy us as we see fit to the districts we wish. Place some PVE interaction on the districts and let us make our own content.
