Something I'd particularly like to see is weapon customisation - having mods on the actual weapons, and a variety of mods affecting the actual cosmetics of the weapon. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

I actually really like #1 as it looks mean and heavy, something that is going to punch straight through ya when it opens up. Maybe use it as the proto skin. Lol, actually, much as different skins for level as well as variant would make my year, I fear we're a long time away from it.
