A different approach to respecs, and DUST 514 in general.

Alternate Insano SUICIDE SPITE SQUAD 32	Posted - 2014.02.13 13:42:00 - [1] - Quote So, if you read the forums about 95% of the playerbase will quit DUST entirely if CCP changes too much content and does not offer players a chance to respec. I'm not interested in discussing why the playerbase feels this way. Rather, I'd like to propose an entire change to the system. Every Wednesday at reset CCP should allow you to completely redistribute all your SP until all game content is released. Everyone would get to try everything, noone could claim unfairness or trickery by the devs, and CCP could use this feature to show how they care about attracting new players. The new players would not have to stress so hard about how they assign their SP and old players could try new things without becoming bored and getting burned out. Could this work?

Not to say I don't support respecs when they are necessary. i.e. changing large portions of the game all at once, adding in large amounts of new content, etc. However respecs need to be managed by CCP and not abused as a possible game mechanic. Your idea would solidly reinforce the "flavor/fit of the month" that this game seems to have a serious problem with.

Put bonus awards on using unpopular gear, why wouldnt you try it if you knew you could spec differently next week? Rather than the current system where everyone is pushed toward one gun/one suit, and as soon as the next patch comes out you are helplessly UP.

No, everyone will see wich suitsl and weapon are OP and everyone will use them, it d be the Golden age of the FOTM Instead, some people will stumble on to the supposed OP suits and weapons through a combination of luck and fortuitously predicting the coming metagame or gameplay changes by CCP. Others will simply have enough SP to skill into most everything and just switch builds. Those people will then come on the forums and demand that no respecs ever occur again so they can lock in their advantage. Sounds legit.

My other two though....meh. Use them when I'm out of sp, and a weekly respec would keep me interested. Then again i play 8 hrs a day and it takes alot to keep me interested...
