I would like a quick answer from CCP about the way cloaks work, I understand they are on break for the Mongolian new year or maybe the Somalian spring break, this is just a yes/no answer type deal.

 Question:
When a player is cloaked, I am say 90m away with my Fail rifle and I happen to run my crosshairs across them, though not seeing them, will the intel from aiming at them appear? (giving them away)

i thought i was the only one who called it a the fail rifle, but good question because you are invisible to sight but what about at least seeing a rippled sihlouette something.

I believe it will have a visible quality, which is a good thing, I have played games where the cloak is 100% hidden, not cool, I didn't mind I used the cloak, but it was unbalanced.
Its the getting busted by nothing other than a game mechanic treating the cloak as not being there I worry about.

Presumably not since it would virtually negate the purpose of the cloak. I would guess, as the others in the thread have, that there will be a slight visual effect, using cloaks in EVE as the basis for my guess, but it would have to be fairly subtle to make the cloak something worth using.

If it's within it's optimal range I would imagine so.

Perhaps it will be like Stealth mode in Crysis 3, Which was awesome. But i have a feeling it will just be an active profile dampener :(

I think what this person is getting at, is it like when you have your crosshairs over where someone would spawn and your crosshairs are red before they're visible. Is it gonna be like that? Also they said there would be a shimmer. I've played other FPS and you can see the shimmer. It's not so bad if you're good at catching it. I do expect to get snuck up on at times. That's the point of the cloak

Yeah either crosshairs turning red or "PRO Scout GK.0" and health heads up displayed. that would spoil cloaking IMO

Will the cloak effect look anything like the current visual effect when we spawn into a map? Because we are invisible until we perform the action of moving or shooting. The cloak might be a more subtle version of this; a sort of transparent glassy shimmer.

Devs stated originally that the targeting reticule would still turn red when over a cloaked unit. Don't know if targeting info will appear as well.

I believe CCP said not only will decloaking make a sound (BAD IMO for close range weapons) but also that running your crosshairs over cloaked enemies WILL give them away with tac net data. (It does this right now, just check it out as people camp an uplink waiting for red crosshairs)

Pretty sure they said the red chevron doesn't appear over cloaked targets. Probably means the only thing you'll get is the red crosshairs.

No data or chevrons pop up, the only tell will be your crosshair turning orange. To paraphrase how CCP Remnant explained it. I'm not going to ferret out that post considering that it was whored all over the forums the for a couple weeks after it was posted.
