As a new player the best weapon at your command is your knowledge about the game and maps. Study the game and you will have more fun when you play the game. What tactics work on which map, where are the default letter spawns? Every advantage is important especially a knowledge advantage. And here is your freeby, I challenge you all to study your surrounding and create more maps like this in your brain.

What's not to love about the scrambler rifle, the thing is a precision weapon and at the same time a shotgun.

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle! 
Not that it necessarily happens to new players very often but I have found that when your team has redlined the other and the match just turns into a boring countdown, it's a great use of your time to explore the sockets and figure out where the ladders, ledges, and cover is.

Exactly, default spawn knowledge is also really important. It helps you to cover teammates on hacks and also lets you make sure you have secured an objective before you move on. Or better yet cap an objective because you spawned camped them into submission and they give you a free cap on the letter  .
