Giving a respec or not seems to be a topic of intense debate, but ill give you all my take 1. The respec on drop suits should only affect light and heavy frames, as all other frames have full racial parity, and thus, it only makes sense, as medium frame users are either FoTM chasers, who should be denied a respec, and because full racial parity was available, they were able to choose amongst all available options, whereas light and heavy frame users aren't. For logi and assault suits, a different type of respec is in order, where players have an option to move their skills in one racial tree to another. If you have multiple, you cannot combine them, but you can move multiple 2. This may be unfair to certain players (i.e. min logi's who specced the role for the hacking bonus), in which case they can apply to CCP for a respec on an individualized basis, if they provide solid reasons for one, CCP will grant it. 3. Dropsuit upgrades skills should remain the same, this is a core focus group that should not be respecced, as the only thing this assists with at all is FoTM chasing. These core skills need to be kept where they are at 4. Weaponry is relatively tricky. Personally, i believe that after the rifles become balanced among each other fully, all SP in rifles pre 1.7 should be respecced as not all options were available at that time. In 1.8, I would like to see a full sidearm weaponry respec excluding nova knives, due to all the new sidearm weaponry which continue to complete racial parity. 5. Vehicles skills have already been respecced, and do not need another respec 6. Corporation skills, i believe, are getting retuned, so i will not comment
If you have any arguments either for or against, present them, and I may change my outlook

As a Gal Logi, I will be pigeon holed into speccing into scanners to make use of the bonus. I will in effect be forced to use them to remain viable in that suit. I like scanners, but I am a chubby chaser and the proposed min logi rep tool bonus is more suitable to my play style. I didn't FOTM Gal logi suits for slaying, I'm a card carrying Logibro.

Agreed.
We should at least get a respec in Dropsuit command because the skills are all changing. I don't think there is much debate about that.
I also think that Dropsuit upgrades should receive one too because for most players, especially in the 5 to 20 mil-ish range, Dropsuit upgrades are tailored to the race and role they are playing. |

Prestatement: Don't deny respecs because you're afraid of FOTM, that never lasts.
1) What about people who spec'd into medium frames because their preferred race's heavy or light frame wasn't available and they didn't want to use another race's suits? 2) Last time CCP did petitions for respecs it took them a lot more effort than they had intended and wasted a lot of time. They will not make this mistake again, they'd rather just assume everyone qualifies. 3) What about people who spec'd into Amarr Sentinel but really wanted Caldari Sentinel? The armor skills don't exactly translate to shield skills. Also several suits are getting module slot changes and CPU/PG changes which directly impacts how you spec into upgrades. 4) All assault suits are now given bonuses towards specific weaponry as well as commandos given bonuses towards specific weaponry. There also needs to be consideration of sentinels resistance to specific weaponry. A lot of this impacts what weapons you spec into. 5) Agreed there is no point in respecing vehicles again. 6) Corporation skills are the one thing that never needs to be refunded ever.

You also forgot to mention #7
#7. What happens when your races entire combat doctrine and tanking focus is shifted to as it should have been from the start essentially wasting all shield skills..... e.g- Amarr lost its Shield vs Armour balance and are now not dual tankers but pure armour tankers as they should have been.

I agree with most, but I'm just really scared everyone will spec into gallente scouts or heavies, thinking they will be new FoTM, realize that they require a modicum of skill to use properly, then use armor plates and damage mods stacked together, thus getting the suits that really don't need a nerf nerfed due to using them in an improper manner. Read my sig if you wanna know what i think will balance the game, however, i don't think CCP will incorporate my ideas, so we will se the g-scout and all heavies being 1.8 FoTM, resulting in ill-conceived nerfs that will have implications outside of the things that actually need nerving, and thus putting things like the minmitar scout or amarr heavies into dark ages which would be difficult to recover from

This is way to complicated and would make the respec process take ages. A global respec would be so much easier, and if people do spec into the FOTM nerf it 2 weeks later and F' EM.
