I had this idea a few weeks ago and never posted it because I was under the impression someone else must have thought of it by now. Realizing that might not necessarily be the case here it is:
Faction Warfare is imbalanced. Most people attribute this to the fact that new players just clicking around trying new things have all 4 faction boxes checked, meaning they'll fight for the first game that pops up. Most players stick to Gallente and Minmatar FW battles because they tend to win, so they have the longer queues, meaning the new players get siphoned off into Caldari and Amarr FW, causing them to tend to lose, which causes more players to go towards Gallente and Minmater, which sends more new players towards Caldari and Amarr, lather rinse repeat ad naseum. Essentially the problem created itself as soon as the possibility of it existing arose.
So, to fix this? Balance out the inexperienced players. Make it so instead of all 4 race boxes being selected for new players coming into FW matches have ONLY their starting race selected by default until the player switches it themselves. They can even select all 4 if they want. This would drastically balance out the experienced to inexperienced player numbers and rapidly fix the imbalance issues that plague the game mode. |

Ahaha. Just noticed that someone did finally post this idea 4 days ago. A lot later than I figured! But, I'll keep this up anyway. The more voices the better. |

You shouldn't even be able to spawn into the game if you're not wearing that races suit.

Remember that choosing Race/Faction is just something cosmetic same as gender, so it have to stay in cosmetic frame. If we force some players to fight for specific faction it doesn't have e to be something plesure for them. I would prefer that they were learned how to change/operate FW battlefinder in form of forced tutorial(to which they can return someday in future after accomplishing it once).
Beside, when new racial dropsuit and weapon will arrive to LP store, Gallente and Minmatar faction will not necessarily be the most populated factions by players corporations. Everything can change after 1.8 release .
I think the whole taking district thing need to change - it have to be more difficult and EVE player related(in space Gallente are losing, but on ground they already won, this is crazy and need to change).
I'm here since may 2012, my EVE alter ego is Nosum Hseebnrido.

I think you misunderstood. I'm not saying we're forcing players to play for their race. I'm just saying the automated default selected race for them before they pick one is their factional race to balance out where new players go. They're free to select any race combinations they like whenever they would like to. But those who don't want to make a decision or don't know how will be "suggested" to play for their race until they make up their minds about what to fight for and when.

Yep. It's not even like the different "races" are even racially different. They just belong to another general country. Genetically speaking I don't think there is any variation between the races for even that kind of grounding. It's a philosophical thing and philosophies change. Sometimes they change rather quickly when incentives are introduced.

Ideas like this make me sad because it goes against everything the game is meant to be.
I feel like too many people are asking for stuff without knowing something about what the game was meant to be.
Open sandbox, freedom to do as you wish. Open markets, corp armories, selling and trading items, moving resources up a space elevator for EVE pilots to make use of. Full on military industrial complexes needed to supply us with our gear, and supply and demand setting our prices instead of some fixed price.
Look up and learn about New Eden, the setting that we are in. There is a rich and complex history to this setting that we are in. |

Agree wholeheartedly. It seems even CCP has forgotten these things.

Whoa. I don't think you read or understood what I wrote. The option to fight for whatever race is still there. 100% still there. This is just for new players who have not selected which FW boxes to fight for yet. Instead of all 4 it's just the one. They can pick whatever they want.
