I've actually been taking the time to go through the numbers, fittings, performance of the tiers and I remember way back that the concept of proto was just to be a slight edge over advance but at a much larger isk sink (used when **** was series).
I always thought tiers were suppose to operate like this
Utility(fitting) / Isk Standard 3 / 1 Advance 5 / 4 Proto 6 / 7
6 slightly outperforms 5 but 7 is much more costly than 4. Essentially as you go up the tiers it becomes less efficient.
But its more like this
Utility(fitting) / Isk Standard 3 / 1 Advance 5 / 4 Proto 9 / 7
The jump from advance to proto is substantial and very linear, its definitely not the "slight" advantage that I remember as the role that proto was suppose to fill.
Since this is a very linear form of scaling, assuming the bell curve of dust players, this just makes proto thy thing to run instead of the "lets bring out the big guns" kind of mentality. Combine this with broken isk mechanics and the game is in for some trouble. TTK is low enough in my opinion where this isn't really an issue, but with an increase in TTK, this will become more pronounced as this will exaggerate the differences.
My $.02 at any rate

Your numbers are flawed IMO. Its more like:
Standard 1
Enhanced 4
Proto 6
Or something like that. IMO the gap between enhanced and proto are much smaller than the gap between standard ad enhanced.
FU and FU Dust community, you're mostly a bunch of moronic carebear crybabies. Get good.

Well, I appreciate corrections, its 2 am where I am, and I just spitballed it, but are your numbers the isk cost or the utility? Isk cost is like 10-30, 40-70, 85-130 isk wise (of course there are exepctions), and fitting increases by a relatively linear margin on the tiers (looking at the new dropsuit numbers). If we were to graph this the line would look rather straight.

Please just stop ok. Get a proto suit ok and run it. Die in it and get first place in it and see how much your profit margin is.Look at cost comparison as far as a proto Av fit and a Tank do a curve for me about that. Then we I might be interested.

TTK is too low across the board for all suits and weps. Fitting means almost jack shite right now

Your tank whining is unnecessary, I'm not asking to make it cost more isk, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that it costs enough (making it cost more goes in the wrong direction), what I am arguing for is that it's utility shouldn't be as linear as it is.
PGCPU 33174 46244 (39%, 29%) Standard to Advance 66348 (43%, 43%) Advance to Proto
In fact it curves upwards slightly from this one piece, thus proto is a required destination instead of the little bit of power needed for a match that it once conceptually had.
