Just wondering if you need to use a basic advanced or proto heavy suit and get kills with it for the february event, or if getting kills while using militia heavy suits will work as well.

I think the event announcement was a little poorly worded.
In all likelihood the event will be scripted to record kills from heavy weapons, regardless of the suit wielding it.
Creating a list of which suits do & don't get the rewards seems pointlessly complicated from a programming perspective.

Was about to say that they can just apply payouts/rewards according to tags, such as tag_dropsuit_sentinel, but seems there are no tags for basic heavy suits

That segment is related to kill rewards for killing a Heavy suit, not killing with one. |

Basic heavy just refers to heavy suits that aren't sentinel or commando

Think it would be fair to assume that they only track kills that are received with heavy weapons, as the heavy suit is the only suit that can use a heavy weapon.
Also other players get a payout for killing militia heavies so it would be silly and unnecessary to put in so much work just to exclude militia heavy suits from the event.
