This is how I think the Skill Tree for Dropsuits should be.
[Racial Name] Dropsuit Command: Unlocks the different Frame suits as now, but with each Level adding a Racial specific Bonus. That Bonus, I believe, should focus on that Races specific Tank. Because it's really the only thing that all Racial Frames have in common. It's been stated elsewhere what these are (I didn't come up with them), but I will list them here for convenience:
Caldari: Shield HP Minmitar: Shield Regen Amarr: Armor HP Gallente: Armor Regen
[Racial Name] Frame: This should come with a Frame Bonus of some kind (haven't thought of what as of yet). That Bonus should reflect the general role that Frame will play on the battlefield. This allows Frame Suits to be effective, which should also allow new players to be more effective without having to skill into a specialty role (Scout, Assault, etc.). This should also open up the Dropsuit Skill Tree that we currently have (minus the Equipment and Modules skills as they should have their own tree, much like weapons currently do). This Skill Tree should focus on that Frame only, but the Specialty Roles would automatically benefit from that as well (ie, Scouts would benefit from any points spent in Light Frame, Assaults would benefit from any points spent in Medium Frame). This Skill Tree would focus on increasing the Base Stats of the Frame. Basically, anything that's listed under the Attributes Tab would have a corresponding skill attached to it.
[Racial Name] Specialty Role: This should come with another fairly generic bonus (like CPU/PG reduction for Light Weapons for Assaults), but after that, things get interesting. Instead of trying to come up with blanket bonuses that try to cover everything a specific role can/should do you would list them as individual skills under this branch. Players can then decide for themselves which things they want specialize in as befits their playstyle, allowing more freedom overall. Each race would still get efficacy bonuses to role specific items (Like the cloak, or the Scanner), but would skill into these things individually instead of having them all lumped together. |
