It's backwards !!!
Why is it the year/month/day and not the easier Day/Month/Year ?
I had been looking forward to 03/02 and it turns out that's actually the 2nd of March not the 3rd of Feb, I wont go into any details but it's really unusual to have it shown that way round.
Maybe I'm the unusual one and outside of the UK the date is always Year/Month/Day I'll just have to await humiliation or agreement from the community.

What they actually do is follow the even less sensible American dating convention where it's Month/Day/Year. Personally, I agree with you that day/month/year makes more sense. But I'm also English and that's how I was taught to do it.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

At least get your nationalities correct before you try to spew xenophobic commentary on other cultures.

British date format: Day/Month/Year. This makes sense, because it's a sequence from smallest value to largest. It's also taught throughout much of the British Commonwealth, but isn't "officially" internationally recognised.
American date format: Month/Day/Year. This makes no sense, because it starts in the middle, then jumps from one end of the scale to the other. It's in common use because 'Merica, but isn't an officially recognised international date format.
International standard date format: Year/Month/Day. This is the reverse of British, and makes sense for the same reason. It also works with standard time format, because it follows the sequence of largest to smallest (Year/Month/Day Hour:Minute) when you write the time after the date. You'll notice this is where the time is written on these forums. This is actually internationally recognised, and the officially "correct" method of writing a date. It's taught in many parts of Europe and even where it isn't used as standard, it's often mentioned in passing by teachers because of its international acceptance. |

At least get your nationalities correct before you try to spew xenophobic commentary on other cultures. Please actually read to the end of the sentence at least before calling me xenophobic. I quite clearly said that the american dating convention is Month/Day/Year. True, it turns out that CCP are actually following the international one which is Year/Month/Day. I admit I was wrong about that, I didn't know about the international standard and the example the OP cited didn't have a year in it. So it was not unreasonable, with the information I had, to assume it was the American standard which is prevalent across the internet.
For someone who has a sig which seems to be praising people for not skimming, it does seem that you skimmed my post a little.
As Garrett Blacknova pointed out, the international standard actually makes more sense than the british one. I agree that it's a little less than pleasant to look at if you're not used to it though.

ISO 8601.
YYYY-MM-DD is the internationally recognised 'correct' date format. It is backwards because it had to be distinct from both the American and British formats, which theoretically helps avoid confusion... |

It's also the best for quickly putting files in order on a computer. It's the best format. Second place goes to DDMMMYYYY (07Feb2014) which is very straight-forward, but **** for computers. |

Most countries use the "year/month/day" method, as well as most businesses. |

CCP, please fix your date. It says it is 2014, but I know for a fact that it is 115.

Agreed. We should be using New Eden Standard.
