Alright... I have to say that I am getting increasingly disappointed in the current shield modules. The current armor build is awesome, but surpasses shields completely... I know shields aren't about HP as much as armor, they are about regeneration time. That's why I want to smack whoever came up with the added delay to stacking shield extenders (sorry bud). As if the complex shields (66 HP) had enough problems vs complex armor (130 HP, that's double what shields get). But then you add 7% delay time... Ok so you just want Caldari to die? If I' not mistaken, shouldn't it be just as possible to use only shield modules like it is armor? A prototype Galente assault can get over 800 HP worth of armor (Not to mention the upcoming update, it's said that they will get an additional 25% armor) meanwhile Caldari can only get about 550 if I remember correctly... with a stacking penalty of 28% longer regen time. And then we have regulators... which do nothing. Why don't they affect depleted time to balance the lower HP? and why don't they have higher percents of influence? such as 50% 75% 100% since we are dealing with just a few seconds (that make all the difference) even if they affect lower amounts of depleted times? I'm surprised that if you guys played this game you would realize that Caldari almost HAS to stack armor as well just to compete when they are supposed to have the most advanced shield systems, and on eve use ONLY shield modules for an effective fitting. I wish I didn't have to spec into both shield AND armor for a decent assault fit. It would be nice to use only use shield modules and say biotics in my lows, relying on a very fast regen, even when I have depleted shields. Just something to think about. |

given the fact shields got those penalties. I am sure sooner or later they will get a HP increase. But at the same time shields regen without any other influence. Armor does not do this. Yes there are some suit bonuses which add up to a whopping 5 hp per sec. And other things which regen armor but they all have some kind of negative.(slots, high fitting, requires another person)
still shields do need to have some more hp. if only to steal some of the dam mods thunder.
HAVE A NICE DAY!!!

Said Gallente assault has zero regen on that armour and will die after a couple of engagements as well as being slow as hell. Said Caldari assault will regenerate at a very quick speed. Unless your shields are completely depleted that penalty will have no effect, as it only effects depleted delay.
Regulators affect both normal recharge and depleted recharge, so you're incorrect there.
Shields would benefit from a higher TTK and better scaling on the lower tier shield extenders, but this is a terrible comparison marred horribly by you completely ignoring regen.

Yea, I was a bit tired when I wrote this. I've been wanting to approach the idea of changing shield mod for awhile, I did forget that regulators affected depleted time. My bad, it makes for a badly written request. They still barely do jack, and could use a buff. 20% on enhanced just barely counter balance the stacking penalty. As far as the gallente not getting a regen, all I said was that they could get around 800 HP of armor . Your still looking at over 700 HP with a rep mod, that's still nearly 200 HP more than a proto cal suit. Then you look at the advanced Cal assault which can only get 400 HP give or take depending on what weapon your trying to fit. That TTK is really low without useing armor mods. Thanks for posting, and any feed back is welcome. |

Thanks, I forgot to double check that. I was using the info from a conversation I had previously so I should have looked it up before writing this. I agree on the TTK, and I still think that regulators need a higher percent of influence. As far as gallente with zero regen is a bad idea, but sacrificing 130 HP for 5 HP a sec helps tremendously. Not to mention Logi's LOVE gallente suits. |

My apologies if I came off harshly - I hate mornings.
I do agree on most of what you've said here - while initially your information on regulators wasn't quite correct, I do think they need a greater % effect. Encouraging pure tanking is something that should happen more, I feel. The prevalence of dual tanked suits which could otherwise be good shield tankers does indicate that regulators aren't of much use.
Also, the 5 HP/s inherent bonus on logis is an absurdly good bonus and makes armour tanking solid on any logisuit, especially combined with their slot count and the superior equipment utility of armour. This is pretty much why the Gallente logis are so horrendously overpowered. 5 HP/s inherent unchains you from triage hives even if you just stack plates, buffs regen significantly if you don't stack them, and then you have a ton of fitting resources and equipment. There's a similar situation with all the logistics, but the Gallente suit is the worst offender.
I am quite glad that particular bonus is being removed. Anyway, I think it's best to wait and see the TTK changes before campaigning for any shield/armour changes. The current system is terribly balanced, especially with the inherent effect of suits in some cases.
Though something I'd like to flag is the HP scaling on shield extenders. 22/33/66 does not make for happy newbies.
