Basically yeah. The First Look trailer is what caught my attention and ultimately got me to start an EVE account. If these were going to be awesome interconnected games (didn't know it would be PS3 back then) of completely different genres, I definitely wanted in on both sides.

I wonder if CCP is set on differentiating DUST's Hybrid tech into Hybrid - Plasma (basically EVE Blasters) and Hybrid - Rail. EVE doesn't distinguish Hybrids like this, but Gallente hull bonuses are generally more suited to Blasters and the Hybrid Caldari hull bonuses are generally more suited to rails.
Anyway, if they're dead set on it, the Gauss Rifle could be the shorter range Caldari Light weapon to follow the pattern of EVE, where racial weaponry has a (relatively) short and long range version, i.e. Projectiles have Autocannons/Artillery, Energy has Pulse/Beam, Hybrid has Blaster/Rail and Missiles have Rockets/Lights (and continuing down the missile family. No good way to categorize them by name.)

One thing I've noted, is DUST trailers used to be a lot more frequent. I think they've realized at this point that marketing a game so vastly better than the game we're actually playing is a bad idea.

The actual graphics of the game is not as good as that first trailer by far. |

Not exactly.
One trailer showed a line of heavies with laser rifles, and it was released a significant amount of time before laser rifles were.

yup, tricked people and gave hopes for the near future of the game. Learned what CCP is actually capable of, screwing up by not listening to the people at first and when they chose to listen they listened to the wrong people. Over hyping their products, promising things that will take many years to actually do. And making this great idea of an FPS connected to an MMO.
Don't make it easy for them, take a few down with you.
