I'm sorry, I didn't realise that CCP is a government and that we are taxpayers, and that we have the right to demand that tax money is being spent on traditional government things.

Let's see. EVE is a 10 year old MMO that fairly regularly sets records in the number of people online, the player base generously give to good causes through the game and the market is being studied by economists for potential ways to improve economies in the real world.

Dust is a free FPS with not terribly great numbers that wouldn't actually exist anyway without EVE.

Also, it's not just CCP spending money, it's the city of Reykjavik as well if I remember correctly from the video I watched.

CCP has problems with management and is well known for moving at a snails pace on every project they work on. Part of this problem is also do to the fact they spread their company assets across multiple projects, many of which do not generate revenue or are not wanted at all by the playerbase -- which they historically REFUSE to acknowledge until the bankers themselves come knocking.

There are more than a few people, including myself, who believe that maybe this kind of investment should have been spent on hiring new and better developers that can solve the problems they haven't had the attention span to fix for the last decade.

Instead, it's being invested into an expensive monument nobody will ever visit.

Vanity. Clearly someone at CCP is growing a massive head again.

I don't see any problem with this. As an Eve Online player playing since 2008, I feel honored to be a part of this. CCP has always been a great company and they even do "PLEX For Good" charity drives which donate large sums of money to people in need. They did one for almost every disaster as well that occurred since PLEX was introduced.

At least give CCP credit for honoring the players in such a big way. Besides, our names will be immortalized on stone rather than on a computer which is awesome to be honest. Try looking for another game company that does that for its players.

You have to get your name on this so that space aliens in the far future reconstruct your dna to fight interstellar wars for them.

Are you freakin kiddin me? This is what we have spent our money on (for those of us who actually HAVE dropped cash for these games). Sure its cool in concept but CCP should use their funds to build better games not buildin monuments and crap.
