So there have been a couple discussions in my corp about how to provide fun incentives to keep people to keep playing Dust that are in keeping with the sandbox nature of the game.
One thought I had was to give corps the ability to create "missions" for players. Corp leaders would determine the objectives, donate the ISK/Equipment reward, and then the mission would appear on a corp 'noticeboard'.
Possible objectives for missions could include
- Kill 100 snipers. - Complete 10 PC battles. - Reach a certain number of skills points. - Revive 100 players - Hack 10 points.
Rewards could be either ISK or Equipment ,or even some sort of medal (similar to the current medal system in EVE).
The mission would remain available until it has been completed by x number of players.
What do you think? |

This'd probably be more of the end game though. Safer to start off with automatically generated contracts which have strange requirements (use a certain sniper to get x amount of kills; drive an LAV on the road) and on the other side you have (kill snipers with nova knives x times; destroy LAVs). Then add some reason behind it: corporations trying to gather stats for their equipment through actual combat, or escort missions, or search and destroy missions, sabotages, etc.
Once this system is fleshed out, maybe there could be another section of these Contracts called Player Contracts, sort of like bounties but instead of being paid simply by killing someone, players offer money to do certain things and other players accept them. (basically Ghural's idea)

Personally I'm a fan of the players being the ones setting the missions from the onset.
It would also be something that would be unique to Dust. |

This also gives Dust corps something to spend their isk on other than PC, and a sneaky workaround for the player to player market not existing I like it, whether its player generated or not it could be something extra for players to do, espcially if/when they hit an SP cap. A player generated system would be great but perhaps an added FW system in which if you achieve certain goals you get a random faction item or something like that. Extra incentive to play lots of FW. |

You could even allow corps to create their own LP store. The corp donates the items and sets the prices. The players do the missions and earns the LP. |
